摘要: An occlusion clearing device for a patient has a housing with a motor(s) that generates repetitive motion, which is reciprocating, rotational or both. A clearing stem including a sheath that has a lumen, wherein aspiration is conducted through the sheath lumen. A wire is located in the sheath lumen and receives repetitive motion from the controller. The sheath terminates in a sheath end having at least one sheath opening. The wire terminates in a wire tip, which may be flat, helical, or tubular. The wire tip is positioned within the sheath end, in proximity to the sheath opening(s), and movement of the wire tip and/or sheath end relative to each other creates shearing forces that break up an adjacent occlusion.

摘要: An assembly and syringe adapter is provided. In one embodiment, an assembly includes a syringe and a syringe adapter. The syringe has a fluid reservoir and a tip that is in communication with the fluid reservoir. Additionally, the adapter has first and second ends, the first end including a cavity configured to receive the syringe tip, and a mating mechanism to permanently engage the syringe tip when the syringe tip is received in the cavity and the adapter is rotated in a first direction relative to the syringe. The adapter may not alter a volume of the syringe to maintain accuracy of volume indicia on the syringe.

摘要: Nutritional formulas comprising long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (LC-PUFAs) are provided, along with methods and devices for preparing and/or administering nutritional formulas. In some embodiments, a percentage of the LC-PUFAs in the nutritional formula are in the form of monoglycerides and/or free fatty acids. In some embodiments, the nutritional formulas do not comprise added lipase. Also provided are methods for providing nutrition to a subject, methods for improving fat absorption, methods for improving cognitive ability, methods for preventing chronic lung disease, and methods for reducing the length of time a patient requires total parenteral nutrition.

摘要: Detection of fluid conditions in an administration set. A light source is positioned to transmit an infrared light through administration set tubing and any fluid therein. A light sensor senses the infrared light transmitted through the tubing and generates an output signal. A frequency of the output signal is a function of an intensity of the light transmitted through the tubing. A processor receives and determines the frequency of the output signal, and compares the determined frequency to threshold frequency values to determine whether fluid is in the tubing. The processor also monitors the generated output signal to determine if the frequency of the output signal changes over time, and determines whether fluid is flowing in the tubing as a function of the determined change in frequency.

摘要: A gastrostomy tube (1) comprises a head (10) having a port (15) for feeding a fluid, a tube section (11) extending from the head (10) and having a duct (150) for transporting a fluid fed into the port (15), and a cap assembly (2) attachable to the head (10). Herein the cap assembly (2) comprises a cap (20) forming an inner chamber (205), wherein in an assembled state of the gastrostomy tube (1) the head (10) is inserted into the inner chamber (205) of the cap (20). In this way a gastrostomy tube is provided which allows for an aesthetically pleasing appearance of the head of the gastrostomy tube and represent an as small as possible obstacle for a patient in everyday life.

摘要: A percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy feeding tube is supported with a lanyard connected to a first connector; wherein the first connector operably supports a PEG tube. The first connector may be attached to one or more additional connectors interposed between the lanyard and the primary connector. One or more of the connectors may be a clamp of the type that is biased to the closed, i.e. grasping configuration, and when manually pinched the clamp is opened. Connectors may include one or more clamps of the type the may be locked in the closed, i.e. clamping, position. Connector may include one or more hooks, loops, or straps.
