    摘要: Solid, free-flowing, and substantially completely dissolvable preparations with high betalain content are presented. Most typically, the betalain profile of the preparations is near natural and includes betalains in an amount of between 10-40 wt %. As the preparations of the inventive subject matter maintain chemical stability and flowability over extended periods of time, it should be noted that the betalain preparations are now amenable to compounding in small and measured quantities. Furthermore, new biological activities of betalains are shown, and especially include significant induction of SIRT and reduction of serum triglyceride.

    摘要: The process according to the invention, for producing sugar products from fruits, comprising the steps of: i) demineralizing and decolorizing a fruit juice so as to bring its solid content to comprise from 99% wt to 99.99% wt of a mixture of saccharides, alcohols and flavonoids; iii) separating by chromatography the demineralized and decolorized fruit juice so as to obtain a glucose-enriched fraction or a fructose-enriched fraction from the fruit juice. The solid content of the glucose-enriched fraction comprises at least from 70% wt to 99.99% wt of glucose; the solid content of the fructose-enriched fraction comprises from 70% wt to 99.99% wt of fructose.The low content of anions and cations of the fruit juice to be is treated by chromatography greatly increase the yield of the chromatographic treatment and the purity of the glucose- and fructose-enriched fractions obtained through it.

    摘要: Toxic waste waters polluted with high levels of chemical byproducts of various industrial processes (e.g., waste water held in industrial holding ponds) are treated using gas hydrate to extract and remove fresh water from the polluted water, thus reducing the volume of toxic waste water inventories. Extracting fresh water by forming and removing the hydrate raises the concentration of dissolved materials in the residual concentrated brines to levels at which the residual fluid is suitable for use as an industrial feedstock. Furthermore, so raising the concentration of the residual brine will cause certain mineral species to precipitate out of solution, which mineral species are separated from the fluid and may be put to other uses, as appropriate. Food products are also advantageously concentrated by means of gas hydrates.

    摘要: Method for production of a fruit or vegetable juice concentrate, the steps including milling of the fruit or vegetables in a fruit or vegetable mill with addition of enzymes, heating of the formed mash, stirring of the heated mash with aeration, pressing of the heated aerated mash, centrifugation of the liquid phase from the press, recovery of aroma components by distillation of the supernatant from the centrifugation, and treatment of the dearomatized supernatant from the centrifugation for final degradation of starch and pectin in a holding tank, the treated dearomatized supernatant from the centrifugation is filtered on an ordinary filter, whereafter the filtrate is concentrated. In relation to this method an ordinary filter is used, which is much cheaper than the hitherto used ultrafiltration equipment.

    摘要: A process for preparing a natural flavor concentrate comprising flavor chemicals derived from a fruit or vegetable juice distillate, wherein the distillate is subjected to reverse osmosis, is disclosed; the distillate is characterized by being substantially free of saccharide and the reverse osmosis is continued until a retentate is obtained that can phase separate, and the retentate is phase separated into an aqueous phase and a substantially anhydrous organic phase which contains a high proportion of the flavor chemicals, and the organic phase is recovered. The natural concentrate derived from the process, which is substantially free of saccharide, is also disclosed.

    摘要: Fruit juices are concentrated to low moisture levels (below about 25 percent, and preferably as low as about 2 percent moisture content) without excessive increases in viscosity or loss of flavor by adding an edible plasticizer such as glycerin, propylene glycol or a mixture thereof, to a fruit juice or fruit juice concentrate, and evaporating most of the moisture from the concentrate-plasticizer mixture. The resulting fruit juice solids-plasticizer mixture can be used as an additive for chewing gum, foods, or concentrated fruit juice compositions for reconstitution in water to form beverages.
