A waterproof integrated data and power connector is electrically coupled to the power supply, the scan controller, and to the plurality of LEDs. The modular LED display panel has an ingress protection rating of IP 65 or higher, and is cooled passively without fans.
Abstract:
A lighting assembly includes an assembly body. A first lighting unit is attached to the assembly body. The first lighting unit includes a number of light emitting diodes (LEDs) and optical elements arranged over the LEDs such that each optical element overlies only one associated LED. The first lighting unit is configured to illuminate a substantially rectangular region. A second lighting unit is attached to the assembly body and spaced from the first lighting unit. The second lighting unit includes a number of LEDs and optical elements arranged over the plurality of LEDs such that each optical element overlies only one associated LED. The lighting assembly is configured to direct the light toward the substantially rectangular area such that the light illuminates the substantially rectangular area with a uniformity across the substantially rectangular area that achieves at most a 3:1 ratio of the average illumination to the minimum illumination.
Abstract:
Visual media content on a billboard display surface can be illuminated using a lighting assembly that includes a lighting unit that includes a circuit board, LEDs arranged on the circuit board, and optical elements overlying the LEDs. The method includes directing light from the lighting unit toward a portion of the billboard display surface such that the light from the lighting unit illuminates the visual media content on the portion of the billboard display surface with an illumination level and a uniformity. The optical elements are configured so that failure of one or more LEDs of the lighting assembly will cause the illumination level of light impinging the portion of the billboard display surface to decrease while the uniformity of light impinging the portion of the billboard display surface remains substantially the same.
Abstract:
A modular multi-panel display system includes a mechanical support structure, an array of light emitting diode (LED) display panels arranged in rows and columns and mounted to the mechanical support structure so as to form an integrated display. A receiver box is mounted to the mechanical support, where the receiver box is housed in a housing that is separate from housings of each of the led display panels. The receiver box includes a receiver card coupled to feed data to be displayed on the integrated display to a plurality of the led display panels, where the receiver box includes a network interface card configured to receive data from a control box disposed at a remote location. A monitoring circuit is disposed within the receiver box, where the monitoring circuit is configured to generate an operational data of the array of LED display panels, where the network interface card is configured to send the operational data from the monitoring circuit to a monitoring server.

Abstract:
An embodiment modular light-emitting diode (LED) display panel includes attachment points for use in attachment as part of a multi-panel modular LED display, a printed circuit board including a first side and an opposite second side, and a plastic casing attached to the opposite second side of the printed circuit board. A perimeter of the plastic casing is substantially rectangular and has a height and a width. The modular LED display panel further includes a display surface including a plurality of LEDs arranged as pixels and attached to the first side of the printed circuit board. The pixels are arranged in a rectangular array including at least fifty pixels. Each of the pixels of the rectangular array is spaced from each respective adjacent pixel of the rectangular array by a pitch. The pitch is a predetermined constant number. The pitch does not depend on the height and the width.

A receiver circuit is directly mounted to the second side of the first PCB, the receiver circuit having a first plurality of components. A power supply circuit is also directly mounted to the second side of the first PCB, the power supply circuit having a second plurality of components.
Abstract:
An embodiment display panel may include a housing including a recess, a substrate disposed in the recess, and a plurality of light emitting diodes (LEDs) attached to a front side of the substrate, in which the plurality of LEDs form a front surface of the display panel. The display panel may further include a back cover enclosing the recess and a back side of the substrate. The back cover may form a back surface of the display panel, and the back cover may be configured to prevent ingress of water or dust through a thickness of the back cover. The display panel may further include a power supply disposed in the recess and physically attached to the back cover and not to the housing or substrate, in which the power supply is configured to power the plurality of LEDs.
Abstract:
Embodiments of the present invention relate to integrated modular display panels. In one embodiment, modular display panel includes a a shell with a first thermally conductive material, a printed circuit board disposed in the shell, and a plurality of LEDs attached to a first side of the printed circuit board. A driver circuit is disposed in the shell and coupled to the plurality of LEDs from a second side of the printed circuit board. The panel further includes a power supply unit for powering the LEDs. The printed circuit board are disposed between the power supply unit and the plurality of LEDs. A second thermally conductive material is disposed between the power supply unit and an outer back side of the panel. A protective structure is disposed over the first side of the printed circuit board, where a display side of the panel, opposite the outer back side, is waterproof.
