Abstract:
A method for segregating qualities of an agricultural product during processing of the product comprises the step of setting a desired range of a measurement value (2). The measurement value represents a property of the product and defines a first quality of the product for which the measurement value is inside the range and a second quality of the product for which the measurement value is outside the range. The method further comprises the step of analyzing (4) the quality of the product that is being processed. The step of analyzing comprises the steps of continuously extracting samples of the product (4a), irradiating each sample by electromagnetic radiation (4d), spatially separating electromagnetic radiation of different wavelengths (4e), and detecting electromagnetic radiation emitted from the sample (4f). The step of detecting produces intensity signals indicative of detected electromagnetic radiation of different wavelengths. The step of analyzing further comprises the steps of determining a sample value of said property of the product from the intensity signals, and determining a measurement value (4g) from at least one sample value. The method further comprises the step of separating the product of said first quality from the product of said second quality on the combine.

Abstract:
A method of reducing the susceptibility to interference of the measured value from a measuring instrument. The measuring instrument is of such a type where a test object is subjected to measurements with respect to a plurality of primary test object properties. Before the actual measurement, the effect has been mapped, by a calibration procedure, which these properties have on the measured value regarding a secondary property of the test object. The calibration procedure is effected on the one hand in that measurements by means of the same or similar instruments are carried out on a sufficient number of test objects each having a known value of the secondary property, and with a sufficient variation of the other test object properties affecting the secondary property, so as to cover expected variations of said properties, and, on the other hand, in that the thus obtained measured values of the primary properties are processed mathematically in such manner that a number of calibration constants in a mathematical relationship between the primary properties and the secondary property are generated. During the calibration procedure, a variation of one or several properties of the measuring instrument, or of representations thereof in the processing of the measured values, is introduced intentionally, said variation having the same order of magnitude as or being substantially greater than expected variations, when one or several test objects are being measured, without such information being supplied to the instrument.
Abstract:
For determining both water-insoluble and water-soluble plant fibre components in plant fibre material, more particularly dietary fibre components in dietary plant material, a sample which has been solubilized and degraded with regard to other plant components is passed through a glass filter (2) capable of retaining the water-insoluble fibre components of the sample and then through an ultrafilter (1) capable of retaining the water soluble fibre components and the sample.
Abstract:
A method, a portable device and a measuring instrument for standardization of a satellite measuring instrument to a corresponding master measuring instrument are disclosed. The portable device includes a device for containing a reference material, and an information unit for storing information about the reference material and measurements of the reference material on the master measuring instrument. When placed in a satellite measuring instrument, information from the master instrument stored in the information unit of the portable device is transmitted automatically and wirelessly to the satellite instrument and, together with measurements by the satellite instrument of the reference masterial in the portable device, a standardization model for the satellite instrument and the sample type is obtained.

In a bathtub lift for seniors and the handicapped comprising a scissor-type lifting mechanism whereby a seat plate is vertically adjustable relative to a floor stand, a back rest connected to the seat plate, a telescopic lifting device that is connected to the back rest as well as to the seat plate on one hand and supported on the floor stand on the other hand, and a drive unit to drive the lifting device, provision is made for the lifting device to comprise a driven gearwheel, which, together with a driving gearwheel that is connected to the drive unit forms a gear mechanism and is engageable with this driving gearwheel, wherein the two gearwheels are separable from one another by a pulling force acting upon the lifting device resulting from a body part of a bathing person getting trapped.
Abstract:
A fully functional analyzing unit is included within the fluid-tight housing of a dialyzer which may be immersed in the medium to be analyzed. An opening in the housing is closed by a dialysis membrane. A channel defining body cooperates with the membrane to define a flow channel. The unit includes a carrier fluid reservoir and a carrier pump for generating a flow of carrier fluid through the flow channel. By dialysis via the membrane, the flow of carrier fluid is transformed into a flow of sample fluid which is received in a reaction channel. Reagent fluid from at least one reagent reservoir is delivered to the reaction channel by at least one reagent pump, and a detecting device is coupled to the reaction channel for detecting a reaction product originating from a reaction between the reagent fluid and the sample fluid and for generating a corresponding detection signal. Effluent from the reaction channel is received in a waste reservoir. Average volume flow in the reaction channel during operation is less than 100 .mu.l/min, allowing for at least 30 days of uninterrupted operation. The device is suitable for in situ real-time measurement of plant nutrient salts in process waters of waste water treatment plants.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a reference standard for calibration of an analysis instrument. The reference standard comprises a solid body formed of a number of compounds and a substrate having scattering properties similar to a product to be analyzed with said analysis instrument and being spectrally neutral in a wavelength range to be used in the analysis instrument. The substrate and the compounds in combination with respect to intensity, wavelength and scattering properties imitate the spectral response of the product to be analyzed with said analysis instrument. The present invention also provides a method for calibration of an analysis instrument, which method comprises recording, by means of said analysis instrument, the spectral response of a reference standard comprising a solid body, which with respect to intensity, wavelength and scattering properties imitates the spectral response of a product to be analyzed with said analysis instrument; evaluating the differences between the response from said analysis instrument and an expected spectral response; and calibrating said analysis instrument according to the result of the evaluation.
Abstract:
A solvent extraction apparatus which includes a heating plate, a vessel for containing a solvent, an extraction thimble to obtain a sample to be extracted from said vessel and a cooler for condensing evaporated solvent vapors. The cooler is connected to the vessel for containing the solvent, preferably by an adaptor. A lifting rod is provided which passes through the cooler which, at its lower portion, is provided with a drip rim on which the extraction thimble is detachably fixed. The thimble can be moved vertically by the lifting rod and the flow of solvent into and out of the cooler can be regulated by the lifting rod.
