Abstract: A characteristic of edible oil may be evaluated using a spectrometer. For example, optical reflectance data may be obtained from edible oil in situ in a frying apparatus housing the edible oil, the reflectance data corresponding to a specified range of infra-red wavelengths. A model profile corresponding to the characteristic being assessed may be obtained, such as from a repository housing a secured library of such profiles. The model profile may define a regression vector for use in transforming the reflectance data to generate a value corresponding to the characteristic being assessed. A criterion may be applied to the value to establish a simplified representation of the characteristic for presentation to a user for assessment of oil quality.

Abstract: A method for sourcing plants includes performing nondestructive near-infrared (NIR) scans on selected plants, determining a predicted value of a characteristic for the selected plants based on evaluation of spectral data from the NIR scans against a characteristic model, and utilizing the predicted values for purchasing, processing, and/or financial forecasting. A method of sorting and processing plants includes determining a predicted value of a characteristic in gathered plants and determining a process to recover a primary product and/or a byproduct of the plants based on the predicted value. A method for forecasting includes determining a composite value of a characteristic in plants from a prior time period, correlating source data of plants to be gathered in the later time period with a predicted value of the characteristic in those plants, and determining a predicted composite value of the characteristic in the plants to be gathered in the later time period.

Abstract: The disclosure discloses a method for quickly and accurately analyzing polyphenol content in rapeseed oil, and belongs to the field of analysis of natural compounds. The separation method of the disclosure uses acetonitrile-water as an extractant to extract polyphenols from the rapeseed oil, and cooperates with a C18 adsorbent for purification, and then performs separation and purification. Compared with the traditional liquid-liquid extraction and solid-phase extraction, the method has an average recovery rate of polyphenols in the rapeseed oil of 81.31% to 102.95%, and RSDs of 0.86% to 8.03%, and has higher accuracy and precision. The method of the disclosure not only uses less organic reagents and causes less environmental pollution, but also reduces matrix interference and improves purification efficiency through optimization of the adsorbent. The method of the disclosure not only is simple to operate and low in cost, but also has less matrix interference and accurate results, and is suitable for the qualitative and quantitative determination of polyphenols in the rapeseed oil.

Abstract: The present invention provides a reference fingerprint of virgin olive oil, and an establishment method and an application thereof. By using UPLC-FLD, the chromatographic information of various components in the extra virgin olive oil is obtained, breaking through the limitation of establishment of fingerprints by means of conventional GC-MS method and based on the fatty acid composition of edible oil, and further solving the problem that traditional fingerprints only use a single component for determination and thus result in false positivity. Meanwhile, similarity calculation is conducted on the chromatographic information of serial extra virgin olive oil, establishing a reference fingerprint of virgin olive oil, reinforcing the polymorphism of fingerprint information, reflecting its differences from edible oil from the perspectives of the substance composition, distribution, and content of virgin olive oil, helping improve accuracy of identification, and enabling rapid, convenient and accurate identification of the quality of virgin olive oil.

Abstract: The present invention provides a method of diagnosing an oil-immersed electrical apparatus by an assessment of a state of deterioration of the oil-immersed electrical apparatus including an insulating oil. The insulating oil has been subjected to changing from mineral oil to vegetable oil. The method comprises: performing a first analysis before the changing, by analyzing the insulating oil; performing a second analysis after the changing, by analyzing the insulating oil; performing a first assessment by assessing the state of deterioration of the oil-immersed electrical apparatus before the changing, based on the first analysis results; performing a second assessment by assessing the state of deterioration of the oil-immersed electrical apparatus after the changing, based on the second analysis results; and performing a third assessment by assessing the state of deterioration of the oil-immersed electrical apparatus based on assessment results from the first assessment and assessment results from the second assessment.
