摘要: There is disclosed a composition and process for applying an inorganic layer to a substrate which comprises dispersing at least one particulate, solid, inorganic substance in at least one thermally thinnable fugitive vehicle, the vehicle being viscous and non-drying at the temperature of substrate application and convertible to a low viscosity liquid on heating to a higher temperature and thermally removable on heating to a still higher temperature.

摘要: Apparatus and method for printing lines, dots, in patterns. A plurality of small size wires, filaments, etc. are suspended in free space in a frame and have printing media or substance applied thereto. The wires are brought into printing media or substance transfer relation with a substrate to transfer printing substance to the substrate in a pattern defined by the wires. If dots are to be printed on the substrate instead of lines, a transversely oriented second frame carrying a second set of suspended wires which wires are contacted by the first wires to transfer printing media only at the wire cross points and then the second set of suspended wires is brought to printing media transfer relation with respect to the substrate to thereby transfer printing media to the substrate in a pattern of dots having cross-sectional areas defined by the common area at the crossing of wires. A printthrough device utilizing a matrix of light conducting elements transfers the illuminated display of data to a light responsive type printer. This illumination transfer can be selectively interrupted by a turn-off mechanism, which does this by maneuvering the print-through device. Also, the light conducting elements can incorporate lasing devices to intensify the illumination.

摘要: A method and apparatus for image transfer in an electrophotography printing system wherein the removal of solid particulate toner in the form of an image on an image-defining element is accomplished by contacting the toner with a heated transfer roll. The portion of the toner directly contacted by the heated transfer roll softens and interparticle adhesion is increased by the combination of heat and pressure applied by the heated transfer roll. Simultaneously, the portion of the toner directly on the image-defining element becomes relatively less adherent to the surface of the image-defining element to thereby facilitate its transfer from the image-defining element to the heated transfer roll.

摘要: There is disclosed a process for coating a substrate which comprises applying to the substrate a polymeric based composition comprising a finely divided, particulate inorganic material dispersed in a low molecular weight, low vapor pressure, liquid polymer consisting of poly (alpha substituted) styrene and having a relatively constant viscosity and thixotropic character and capable of being decomposed or pyrolyzed completely to gaseous products at a relatively low temperature without forming a carbonaceous or like residue having a deleterious effect(s) in the application of the composition to the substrate.

摘要: There is disclosed a method of increasing the light transmission efficiency of a gas discharge device and assuring the electrical continuity of non-transparent printed conductors in the device, the conductors comprising transversely oriented row and column conductor arrays. The conductors of a conductor array on a plate forming the viewing side of the device are formed by sets of coplanar conductor elements spaced apart so that when a discharge occurs, an observer sees more of the center of the discharge which would ordinarily be partially hidden by a solid conductive line on the viewing side of the device. Likewise the conductor elements of a set may be connected at regular intervals to provide a plurality of electrically parallel routes for conduction in case a section of a conductor element of a set is discontinuous. The gas discharge is more visible since the applied field between selected conductor elements is across two conductors which are not congruent as seen by the observer.
