摘要: A method is provided of protecting a computer against malware affection. The computer has a data storage and an operating system for managing the data storage. The method comprises providing a filter module in the operating system which operates to detect an attempt to store data in the data storage, to determine a data format of the data to be stored in the data storage, and to prevent storage of the data if the data format is determined to relate to a predefined type. The filter module may be provided as a file system filter driver in a kernel of the operating system. The filter module may be arranged to operate between an input/output manager of the operating system and a driver associated with the data storage. The input/output manager and driver associated with the data storage may form part of the kernel of the operating system.

摘要: A library of audio segments of a song is generated by receiving recorded tracks that include a complete performance of or a composition of unique portions and repetitive portions of the song, segmenting a select track into intervals, analyzing each interval to characterize the interval, comparing each interval with subsequent intervals of the select track to identify repetitive content in the song, identifying a select interval from a set of repeated intervals from the select track and storing the encoded representation of each of the select intervals from a corresponding set of repeated intervals in the library. Intervals can be characterized by frequency analysis, cross-correlation of a waveform, by a trained ear or by analysis of a musical notation corresponding to the song. Intervals for compression can be based on beats, that is, the time for a designated note, notes, a measure, or multiple measures. One or more unique measures can be encoded for additional compression. An interface exposes information from the library that enables the user to control a rendition of the song.

摘要: An apparatus and method calculate a round-trip delay (RTD) between first and second endpoints within a network, where an intermediate point is selected between the first and second endpoints within the network. A network analyzer determines a first data transmission time from the intermediate point to the first endpoint and back to the intermediate point, determines a second data transmission time from the intermediate point to the second endpoint and back to the intermediate point, and adds the first and second data transmission times to determine therefrom the round trip delay between the first and second endpoints within the network.

摘要: Self-assembled monolayers and multilayer thin film structures were assembled from multiple components that were linked non-covalently by metal-ligand complexation. Non-covalently assembled multicomponent films assembly my the present method obviate problems associated with the covalent assembly of SAMs and multilayer thin film structures from large molecules. In one preferred embodiment, the disclosed film structures comprise 2,6 pyridinedicarboxylate ligands attached to an alkanethiol, which form a self-assembled monolayer on gold. The SAM is subsequently functionalized by sequential deposition of metal ions and ligands, allowing incorporation of one or more chromophores, photooxiding compounds or photoreducing to form multilayer film structures. Transition metals, lanthanide metals and other metals of varying charge may be employed in complexing with with 2,6 pyridinedicarboxylate ligands to form stable ordered structures. The non-covalent assembly method provides for multilayer film formation from mixtures of metal ions and a varying number of film layers. Multilayer thin film structures exhibit stable cathodic photocurrent generation in the presence of methyl viologen or EDTA in solution.
