摘要: A particulate filter arranged in an engine exhaust passage is provided with alternately arranged exhaust gas inflow and outflow passages and porous partition walls separating these passages from each other. In each partition wall, a coated zone where a coated layer with an average pore size smaller than that of a partition wall substrate is used to cover the substrate surface and a non-coated zone downstream of the coated zone where the substrate surface is not covered by the coated layer are defined, and the ash in the exhaust gas can pass through the partition wall in the non-coated zone. The quantity of particulate matter trapped at the non-coated zones is calculated, and PM removal control for removing particulate matter from the particulate filter is performed when it is judged that the quantity of trapped particulate matter is greater than an allowable upper limit amount.

摘要: An object of the invention is to suppress deposition of ash in a wall-flow particulate filter while curtailing drops in a trapping rate of PM. To attain the above object, the invention provides a wall-flow particulate filter delimited by porous partition walls having pores of a size that allows ash and ash aggregates to pass therethrough. In the filter, a coat layer having pores smaller than the pores of the partition walls is provided, at a region of the partition walls, from an upstream end thereof up to a position before a downstream end thereof.

摘要: A particulate filter arranged in an engine exhaust passage is provided with alternately arranged exhaust gas inflow and outflow passages and porous partition walls which separate these passages from each other. In each partition wall, a coated zone where a coated layer with an average pore size smaller than that of a partition wall substrate is used to cover the substrate surface and a non-coated zone downstream of the coated zone where the substrate surface is not covered by said coated layer, are defined, and the ash in the exhaust gas can pass through the partition wall in the non-coated zone. Judgment processing which judges if a particulate matter trapping rate of the particulate filter has fallen below an allowable lower limit value is performed. PM removal processing is performed when it is judged that the particulate matter trapping rate has fallen below the allowable lower limit value.

摘要: A wall flow type particulate filter is arranged inside the exhaust passage of an internal combustion engine where combustion is performed under an excess of oxygen. The particulate filter carries a solid acid. The solid acid has an acid strength which is higher than the acid strength of sulfurous acid and lower than the acid strength of sulfuric acid. To remove the ash from the particulate filter, ash atomization processing for rendering the state of the particulate filter a state where the exhaust gas which flows into the particulate filter is lowered in concentration of oxygen and the particulate filter is raised in temperature is temporarily performed.

摘要: An electronic control unit executing an algorithm so as to operate an exhaust purification system of an engine. The algorithm (1) commences a regeneration treatment by causing an amount of fuel supplied to a combustion process of the engine to increase so as to change an air-fuel ratio of exhaust gas of the engine from a first lean air-fuel ratio to a set rich air-fuel ratio and (2) causes uncombusted fuel to be supplied to a NOx catalyst device during at least one of: a first period in which an air-fuel ratio of the exhaust gas within the NOx catalyst device changes from the first lean air-fuel ratio to the set rich air-fuel ratio when the regeneration treatment is started; and a second period after an air-fuel ratio of the exhaust gas within the NOx catalyst device becomes a ratio indicating completion of the regeneration treatment.

摘要: An exhaust purification system of an internal combustion engine comprising an NOX holding material arranged in an engine exhaust passage, having a catalyst metal containing silver, holding NOX contained in the exhaust gas in the form of silver nitrate by the catalyst metal when an air-fuel ratio of inflowing exhaust gas is lean, and releasing the held NOX if the air-fuel ratio of the inflowing exhaust gas becomes a stoichiometric air-fuel ratio or rich. The NOX holding material has a scatter temperature at which catalyst metal scatters in the form of silver nitrate if the temperature rises. When it is time to perform control raising the temperature of the NO holding material to the scatter temperature or above, the NOX held in the NOX holding material is released by making the air-fuel ratio of the exhaust gas flowing into the NO holding material the stoichiometric air-fuel ratio or rich.

摘要: This control apparatus obtains a relation (trade-off line) between NOx generation amount and PM generation amount with EGR ratio serving as a parameter from an NOx generation amount estimation model which calculates the NOx generation amount on the basis of the oxygen mole concentration of intake gas and a PM generation amount estimation model which calculates the PM generation amount on the basis of an excess air factor. Further, the control apparatus obtains a straight line (ratio determination line) which passes through a point (appropriate point A) corresponding to a combination of steady-condition appropriate values of the NOx generation amount and the PM generation amount under the present operating conditions and which has a slope K determined in consideration of a regulation value based on a law relating to emission control. The control apparatus uses an intersection (target point B) between the trade-off line and the ratio determination line as an emission target value, and sets an EGR ratio target value Regrt to an EGR ratio corresponding to the target point B.

摘要: An exhaust purification system is provided with an NOx storage reduction catalyst arranged in an exhaust passage and an SOx trap material arranged upstream of the NOx storage reduction catalyst and removes SOx contained in exhaust gas. A main flow path has a secondary flow path connected to it. In the secondary flow path, a removal device is arranged for removing the sulfur constituent contained in fuel. The secondary flow path includes an opening and closing device. When the SOx removal rate of the SOx trap material becomes a predetermined removal rate judgment value or less or the concentration of the SOx which flows into the SOx trap material becomes a predetermined concentration judgment value or more, at least part of the fuel flowing through a main flow path is made to flow into the secondary flow path and run through the removal device.

Seventy percent or more of any plurality of measurement points with a diameter of 2 nm on a surface of the support are composed of a composite part that has the at least one element selected from the second group content of 0.5 to 10 mol % and has a Ti content of 0.3 mol % or greater.
