Abstract:
A square baler includes a control system having a closed loop mode of operation in which at least one of the volume of the feeder duct and the threshold pressure of the pressure sensor is varied automatically to maintain the capacity parameter within one of a plurality of desired capacity ranges. The desired capacity range is selected by the control system in such a manner as to maintain the width of each slice in the finished bale within predetermined limits.
Abstract:
A control system for a combine harvester having a crop processing system with a control panel for enabling an operator of the combine harvester to set a plurality of operating parameters of the crop processing system that affect the harvesting performance, and a plurality of sensors for determining prevailing values of crop quality parameters. The control system includes a data processor having a display for communicating information visually to the operator and acts to determine when a crop quality parameter exceeds an unacceptability threshold. Following such determination, the control system displays to the operator an operating parameter of which adjustment is recommended in order to restore the crop quality parameter to an acceptable value. The recommended operating parameter is derived from data stored in a look-up table within the data processor.
Abstract:
An apparatus for analyzing crop composition of crops moving in a grain elevator, the elevator including paddles moving up on an up-going side of the elevator and down on a down-going side of the elevator, the apparatus including a crop entrance for entry of crops from the up-going paddles to the analyzing apparatus and a housing for containing a portion of crops to be analyzed. The crop entrance is located in a plane parallel to the elevator's outer wall at the up-going side of the elevator. The apparatus further includes a sloped gutter portion for bringing crops from the crop entrance towards the housing.
Abstract:
A forage harvester is equipped with a device for measuring the mass flow rate of the crop material processed by the machine. The device comprises a sensor member having a curved surface which is mounted for pivotment in an aperture in the spout of the harvester. The moment resulting from the mass flow is measured by a transducer. A resilient sealing is provided between the sensor member and the spout.

A depth adjustable crop transport vane, crop transport vane assembly, and agricultural combine threshing chambers employing such adjustable crop transport vanes are disclosed.
Abstract:
A square baler comprising a controller for controlling the operation of the baler in dependence on the first, second and third signals representing the mass of a bale, the force of the piston of the baler, the energization of the actuator respectively and an input target value for the mass of the bale wherein the first signal is fed back in a first control loop and compared with the target weight to generate a target force, the second signal is fed in a second control loop and compared with the target force to generate a target energization, the third signal is fed in a third control loop and compared with the target energization to control the energization of the actuator.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to an agricultural machine such as a combine harvester. The machine comprises a feeder (1) such as a straw elevator, and a detachable header (2). The feeder comprises at least one rotatable cam (15) and a hook (16), rotatable about a common axis (14). The cam is arranged to gradually reduce the distance between the feeder and the header by rotating the cam (15) away from the header and the hook is arranged to grip a bar or pin (18) located on the header as the cam is being rotated away from the header, thereby securing the header to the feeder. An agricultural machine according to the invention further is equipped with a coupling mechanism (20) for automatically establishing a hydraulic and/or electric coupling between the feeder and the header, the coupling being actuated through the reduction of the distance between feeder and header. The invention is equally related to a method for automatically establishing a hydraulic and/or electric coupling between the feeder and the header of a combine harvesting machine.
Abstract:
A depth adjustable crop transport vane, crop transport vane assembly, and agricultural combine threshing chambers employing such adjustable crop transport vanes are disclosed.
Abstract:
A biomass cleaner, of a harvesting machine, includes at least a first sieve for sieving biomass and having one or more first sieve apertures that are openable and closeable in dependence on control commands. The biomass cleaner also includes an air fan, the speed of which is adjustable in dependence on control commands. The biomass cleaner has one or more control devices that generate the control commands. The first sieve defines a support for biomass that is sieveable via the sieve, and the biomass cleaner includes one or more pressure sensors for generating one or more signals that are related to the pressure of air in the vicinity of the biomass. At least one pressure sensor is operatively connected to supply the signals to a control device that derives therefrom further estimates of the sieve losses and/or the MOG content of the biomass, as defined herein, during operation thereof.
Abstract:
A method of determining the content of a desired component in a stream of material including two or more types of component, includes causing or permitting a stream of a plurality of particles of material to impact a sensor member located in a path of the material thereby inducing vibration of the sensor member, analyzing vibrations of the sensor member and from the analysis determining whether individual impacts caused by the stream are one of any two or more types selected from three possible impact types, and performing an operation based on the result of the analysis.
