Abstract: A method for processing audio signals in a radio transmitter, includes: receiving an analog audio sample stream and a digital audio sample stream; determining offsets in time between the analog audio stream and the digital audio stream using a normalized cross-correlation of audio envelopes of the analog audio sample stream and the digital audio sample stream; filtering the determined offsets in time to produce filtered offset values; determining an alignment slip adjustment value as a function of the filtered offset values; aligning the analog audio sample stream and the digital audio sample stream using the determined alignment slip adjustment value; and generating a hybrid radio signal for broadcast that includes time-aligned analog audio and digital audio.

Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure are directed to providing signals utilizing two or more sources. As may be implemented in accordance with one or more embodiments, a method and/or apparatus involves processing respective signals carrying broadcast data provided by different receiver circuits that respectively receive the same broadcast data. The signals received from the respective receiver circuits are equalized, and corresponding sets of the broadcast data from each of the equalized signals are selectively combined to provide a combined signal carrying the broadcast data. This approach may be used, for example, to generate broadcast data utilizing source data from two or more receivers, such as may be received on different signal mediums (e.g., over-the-air digital radio and Wi-Fi digital radio), and therein providing enhanced reception.

Abstract: An unitary electronic speaker device and method for rendering digital audio data are provided. A list comprising an ordered sequence of audio item indicators indicating a plurality of audio items stored on at least one other device. is received in an embodiment. In one embodiment, the unitary electronic speaker device does not have any storage space other than the memory, and uses the hard disk embodied in at least one other device to supply the digital audio data. The audio data is received and rendered at the unitary electronic speaker device in according to the sequence defined by the list. Any number of the unitary electronic speaker devices may be connected in a network with the at least one other device. In one embodiment a plurality of unitary electronic speaker devices are connected through a LAN using Ethernet.

Abstract: A digital receiver includes a pre-de-interleaver processing block for receiving a receive signal including reception data units quantized using a quantization rule. The digital receiver additionally includes a controllable compressor for compressing the data units into a compressed representation, a controllable time-de-interleaver being configured for applying a varying interleaving size in data units, and a controller for controlling the controllable processor or the controllable time-de-interleaver. The controller is configured for controlling the compressor or the time-de-interleaver so that a higher interleaving size such as a higher interleaving time or a higher number of data units per second is applied, when a compression in a lower number of bits is active.
