Abstract: A transmission method for transmitting a first modulated signal and a second modulated signal in the same frequency at the same time. Each signal has been modulated according to a different modulation sheme. The transmission method applies precoding on both signals using a fixed precoding matrix, applies different power change to each signal, and regularly changes the phase of at least one of the signals, thereby improving received data signal quality for a reception device.

Abstract: Examples disclosed herein relate to a Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) radar for virtual beam steering. The MIMO radar has a plurality of transmit antennas and a receive antenna array having a plurality of radiating elements. The MIMO radar also includes a digital signal processor (DSP) configured to synthesize a virtual receive array having N×M receive subarrays from the plurality of transmit antennas and the receive antenna array, where N is the number of transmit antennas and M is the number of receiving elements. Other examples disclosed herein relate to a method of virtual beam steering.

Abstract: Techniques are described for carrier frequency offset (CFO) and channel estimation of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) transmissions over multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) frequency-selective fading channels. A wireless transmitter forms blocks of symbols by inserting training symbols within two or more blocks of information-bearing symbols. The transmitter applies a hopping code to each of the blocks of symbols to insert a null subcarrier at a different position within each of the blocks of symbols, and a modulator outputs a wireless signal in accordance with the blocks of symbols. A receiver receives the wireless signal and estimates the CFO, and outputs a stream of estimated symbols based on the estimated CFO.

Abstract: Provided is a precoding method for generating, from a plurality of baseband signals, a plurality of precoded signals to be transmitted over the same frequency bandwidth at the same time, including the steps of selecting a matrix F[i] from among N matrices, which define precoding performed on the plurality of baseband signals, while switching between the N matrices, i being an integer from 0 to N−1, and N being an integer at least two, generating a first precoded signal z1 and a second precoded signal z2, generating a first encoded block and a second encoded block using a predetermined error correction block encoding method, generating a baseband signal with M symbols from the first encoded block and a baseband signal with M symbols the second encoded block, and precoding a combination of the generated baseband signals to generate a precoded signal having M slots.

Abstract: Transmission quality is improved in an environment in which direct waves dominate in a transmission method for transmitting a plurality of modulated signals from a plurality of antennas at the same time. All data symbols used in data transmission of a modulated signal are precoded by hopping between precoding matrices so that the precoding matrix used to precode each data symbol and the precoding matrices used to precode data symbols that are adjacent to the data symbol in the frequency domain and the time domain all differ. A modulated signal with such data symbols arranged therein is transmitted.

Abstract: Disclosed embodiments include methods for control channel design in many-antenna multi-user (MU) multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) wireless systems. A beacon comprising an identifier of a many-antenna base station is encoded into a base sequence. A plurality of synchronization sequences is generated based on the encoded base sequence and a set of orthogonal beam sequences. The many-antenna base-station transmits, using a plurality of antennas, the plurality of synchronization sequences in a plurality of beam directions associated with the set of orthogonal beam sequences for synchronization and associated with users without knowledge of channel state information (CSI).

Abstract: A multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) over-the-air (OTA) test system and method are provided that enable a device under test (DUT) to be tested that has no antenna connectors for interfacing antenna elements of the DUT with the MIMO OTA test system. The MIMO OTA test system and method can include a lens system that allows the OTA tests to be performed in a radiating near-field zone, thereby allowing a relatively small and less expensive anechoic chamber to be used in the MIMO OTA test system.

Abstract: Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, a device, process or software that determines an operation between a number of pairs of antennas of a set of antennas. A pair of antennas of the number of pairs of antennas is determined based on the operation. One antenna of the pair of antennas is eliminated from the set of antennas, which results in a reduced number of antennas remaining in the set of antennas. Each of the determining of the operation, the determining of the pair of antennas of the reduced number of antennas and the eliminating of the one antenna of the pair of antennas is repeated in response to the reduced number of antennas being greater than a predetermined number of antennas. Other embodiments are disclosed.
