    摘要: A method and apparatus for virtually generating electricity for use by electric utilities provide a virtual electric utility. In one embodiment, a non-power generating electric utility enters into a supply agreement to acquire electric power from an electric power generating entity. During a term of the agreement, the non-power generating utility intentionally refrains from receiving at least some of the electric power to which it is entitled under the agreement to produce deferred electric power. The non-power generating utility offers to supply the deferred electric power to third party, such as an electric power supplier or an electric power consumer. The power deferment is preferably achieved through issuance of power control commands to a load management system. In another embodiment, an independent third party controls the load management system to function as an alternative energy supplier by virtually supplying deferred electric power back to a power grid.

    摘要: An electrical distribution system for selectively connecting an electrical power source to a load device uses astronomical calculations. The system comprises a switching device electrically connected between an electrical power source and a load device for selectively delivering electrical power to the load device. A control system controls operation of the switching device. The control system comprises a programmed controller for commanding operation of the switching device in accordance with a scheduling routine stored in a memory. The scheduling routine enables control of the switching device based on sunrise and sunset time. The memory further comprises a database of a plurality of geographic locations and coordinate information for the plurality of geographic locations. The control system further comprises a setup routine comprising a user interface enabling a user to select one of the plurality of geographic locations and a manager routine automatically determining sunrise and sunset times using the coordinate information for the selected geographic location and providing the sunrise and sunset times to the scheduling routine.

    摘要: In a system for remotely controlling the supply of electric power to customer premises, each customer premises is fitted with a power-switching arrangement coupled to a paging receiver (5-1, 5-2, 5-3). A utility company supplying the electric power can input requests to a server (1), optionally via a terminal (2) or a network link (3). A software application running on the server generates a control instruction in response to a request and sends it to a paging service (4) for transmission over a paging network. When a paging message is received at one of said customer-premises paging receivers, if the control instruction is appropriately addressed the power-switching arrangement will put it into effect, for example to connect or reconnect the customer premises power supply.

    摘要: An automation and energy management system includes an automation panel box which may be positioned adjacent to a circuit breaker panel box. The automation panel box includes one or more circuit breaker control modules, one or more device control modules and a power module for providing power to the control modules. The circuit breaker control module provides signals to operate motorized circuit breakers, so as to turn on or off the power to a device being managed and the device control module provides signals to control individual appliances. Each of the two control modules is capable of controlling up to eight different circuit breakers or eight different individual devices and each includes a manual override button for each breaker or device controlled, which override button can be manually pressed by a person desiring to override the automation and energy management control. In addition, each of the modules includes status terminals for receiving status signals from the devices being controlled to indicate whether control is to occur or to be overridden. A facility computer generally communicates with the modules over a bus and issues commands to cause certain automatic functions or energy management to occur. The signals on the status lines can override the facility computer signals and the actuation of one of the reset buttons can override either the status signals or the facility controller.
