摘要: The present disclosure relates to osmotic power plants and method for their operation. For example, a method for operating an osmotic power plant may include: supplying a starting solution containing a first substance to the thermal separating facility; evaporating the starting solution in an evaporator; discharging the substance out of the evaporator with a gaseous medium flowing through the evaporator; converting the discharged substance to a liquid phase in a condenser and thereby generating the first solution; wherein the substance is more easily converted to a gas phase than the solvent of the starting solution. The first solution has a first concentration the substance dissolved in a solvent. A second solution has a second, lesser concentration of the substance. The first solution is provided by a thermal separating facility.

摘要: This invention describes a method for producing a novel, superior, highly electroactive material and highly electroactive actuator, which act as artificial muscle, tendon, fascia, perimysium, epimysium, and skin that wrinkles and with the preferred movement of contraction, comprising ion-containing, cross-linked electroactive material(s); solvent(s); electrode(s); attachments to levers or other objects; and coating(s). The composition and electrode configuration of the highly electroactive material of the highly electroactive actuator can be optimized so that contraction occurs when activated by electricity, and when allowed to relax back to its original conformation or when the polarity of the electrodes is reversed, expansion occurs, and a combination of these movements can be arranged, such as antagonistic pairs. The highly electroactive material itself or the highly electroactive actuator may be used individually or grouped to produce movement when activated by electricity. This invention can provide for human-like motion, durability, toughness, and strength.

摘要: An actuator includes a first deformable material layer, a second deformable material layer, and an intermediate layer provided between the first deformable material layer and the second deformable material layer. The first deformable material layer includes a first deformable material containing a first stimulus-responsive compound, which changes its molecular structure and also its color tone according to an oxidation-reduction reaction, a first polymeric material, a first electronically conductive substance having a light transmitting property, and a first electrolyte. The second deformable material layer includes a second deformable material containing a second stimulus-responsive compound, which changes its molecular structure and also its color tone according to an oxidation-reduction reaction, a second polymeric material, a second electronically conductive substance having a light transmitting property, and a second electrolyte. The intermediate layer inhibits electron transfer between the first deformable material layer and the second deformable material layer.

摘要: There is provided a polymeric actuator including: a pair of facing portions located so as to face each other; and a folded portion through which one end portions of the pair of facing portions are coupled to each other, wherein the pair of facing portions and the folded portion are composed of an inner electrode layer, an electrolyte layer, and an outer electrode layer which are laminated in order from an inside. Therefore, the displacements are generated in the pair of facing portions, respectively, to be added to each other, and the displacement is generated in the folded portion as well due to the bending. As a result, the large displacement is generated as a whole. Thus, it is possible to increase the displacement amount after the simplification of the structure is realized.

摘要: Provided are an actuator that is small, superior in terms of high-speed response, and capable of large displacement, and a manufacturing method that can easily manufacture the actuator. The actuator is configured by a laminated body including multiple electrodes, multiple cation-exchange resin films, and multiple anion-exchange resin films. The cation-exchange resin films and the anion-exchange resin films are stacked alternately, and each of the cation-exchange resin films and the anion-exchange resin films is sandwiched between two of the electrodes. A voltage is applied such that the electrodes between adjacent ones of the cation-exchange resin films and anion-exchange resin films have the same polarity.
