    摘要: An ultrasound transducer for an electronic device, including a housing and an ultrasonic transducer element integrated with the housing. The transducer element is capable of operating in at least one of a receiver mode and transmitter mode. In the receiver mode, the transducer element produces an electrical signal in response to an impinging acoustic signal. In the transmitter mode, the transducer element produces an acoustic signal in response to an electrical signal applied thereto. The housing has at least one surface which ensures mechanical stressing of the transducer element in a manner which causes the transducer element to produce the signals.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for accurately and precisely detecting a position of a mobile robot are disclosed in which infrared signals having different specific frequency values according to rotational angles, an angle is determined by receiving the generated infrared signals, and a distance is calculated on the basis of a time taken for receiving a ultrasonic signal after being oscillated. The method for detecting a position of a mobile robot includes: a step in which a mobile robot receives an infrared signal generated from an infrared generator according to a rotation angle of the rotated infrared generator; a step in which an angle between the mobile robot and the infrared generator is determined on the basis of the specific frequency value of the received infrared signal and previously stored frequency values; a step in which a ultrasonic signal oscillated from a ultrasonic signal oscillator is received when the infrared generator reaches a predetermined angle; a step in which a distance between the mobile robot and the ultrasonic wave oscillator is calculated by multiplying a sound velocity to a time taken for receiving the ultrasonic signal by the mobile robot after being oscillated; and a step in which a position of the mobile robot is detected on the basis of the determined angle and the calculated distance.

The transmitting unit transmits a first and second signal having first and second transmission speeds, respectively. The second transmission speed is less than the first transmission speed. Based on a difference in transit times of the first and second signals received by the receiving unit, a length determiner determines the length of the multi-section telescopic boom. A display displays the determined length.

    摘要: A fabrication of a shim for insertion within a gap extending in two orthogonal directions between two structural members in the building of a mechanical structure is accomplished by measuring the gap to provide a map of gap width. Variations in gap width appear in the map so as to enable machining of the shim with corresponding variations in thickness so as to fit accurately in the gap. Measurement of the gap width is attained by use of two acousto-electric transducer assemblies, each of which is constructed as an array of electrode discs produced by photolithography upon a flexible, electrically-insulating film of piezoelectric material which serves as a substrate for support of electrodes on a front surface thereof and a ground plane structure on a back surface thereof. The two transducer assemblies are secured adhesively to corresponding surfaces of structural members defining the gap, and an acoustically-transmissive gel is disposed between the two transducer assemblies. Electrical ranging circuitry is connected to the electrodes of the transducer assemblies to provide a transmitting array for generating sonic signals and a receiving array for receiving the acoustic signals produced by the corresponding transmitting electrodes disposed across the gap from the receiving electrodes. The time of flight of acoustic signals across the gap serves as a measure of the gap width for preparation of a map of the gap width to serve as a basis for construction of the shim.

The receiving station includes circuitry to receive the electromagnetic and sound pulses and discriminate signals of the preselected frequencies. A microcomputer is programmed to measure the time interval between simultaneously emitted electromagnetic and sound pulses, determines the Doppler frequency shift of the received sound pulse, and calculates the time until vehicles meet, which is displayed in numerical form to the driver in the event the Doppler frequency of received sound pulses exceeds the frequency of emitted sound pulses.

    摘要: Munition actuation signals are generated by an acoustic target ranging system that predicts the time and distance of closest approach of a moving target to a munition. The predictive capability of the system is based on the rate of change of the sound level emanating from the target compared to its absolute magnitude. The system generates munition standby, arm and fire signals by differencing the received acoustic amplitude function signal and its first derivative and subsequently comparing the difference signal with various reference level signals. The reference level signals are a function of munition effective range and target conditions. Mechanization of the system is realized by simple circuitry consisting of an acoustic signal detector and processor, a differentiating operational amplifier, a programmable gain amplifier, a reference level signal source, an adder and a comparator circuit.

    摘要: Pipe measuring apparatus is disclosed. In the preferred embodiment, a transmitter is arranged at one end and a receiver at the other end of the pipe. At the transmitter, there is a tone generator which transmits acoustic signal along the pipe. In addition, a power amplifier drives an output diode which transmits light of a specified frequency, and both are funneled along the pipe to be measured. At the receiving end, an amplifier picks up the sound. In like manner, the light which is transmitted through the pipe is also detected. Both detected signals are amplified. After amplification, their modulating envelopes are compared to one another. There is a time shift which is a function of transmission distance, treating the transmitted light as the reference. This time shift is converted by a scale factor into a multi-digit output. The conversion occurs through the use of a clock connected through a decimal counter which is gated on by the light signal and which is gated off by the advent of the sound signal. The output is proportionate to pipe length, and, with appropriate calibrations, length can be measured directly.
