    Abstract: The present disclosure provides optimized coding and decoding methods for polar codes and corresponding encoder and decoder. The coding method comprises: providing to-be-encoded input bits that include free bits and remaining bits; dividing the remaining bits into a plurality of fragments; providing a connection code; connecting one fragment of the remaining bits to the connection code to thereby form a connected fragment, while the remaining being still unconnected fragments; performing polarization coding to the free bits, the connected fragment, and the unconnected fragments to obtain the polar codes.

    Abstract: A system and method for block-code transcoding. An input signal is analyzed to determine if the input signal includes multiple control words, multiple data words and a single control word or only data words. If the input signal comprises multiple control words, the method includes, generating a control word location map and mapping the control codes and any data words to a block-code encoded transmission signal. If the input signal comprises a single control word and multiple data words, the method includes, generating a control word location address indicating a location of the single control word and mapping the control code and the multiple data words to a block-code encoded transmission signal. If the input signal comprises only data words, the method includes, mapping the data words sequentially into the block-code encoded transmission signal. Accordingly, the bandwidth efficiency of the transmission signal is improved by varying the encoding technique used dependent upon the contents of the input signal.

    Abstract: A method for forward error concealment encoding of a digital signal data stream including a sequence of individual digital samples, includes encoding one or more of the individual digital samples according to an encoding mode selected from a number of predetermined encoding modes in accordance with a value of the respective digital sample, wherein encoding includes determining an encoded digital sample as a combination of bits of the respective digital sample and a predetermined number of forward error concealment bits arranged into predetermined bit positions of the encoded digital sample in accordance with the selected encoding mode. A method for forward error concealment decoding of a digital signal data stream including a sequence of encoded individual digital samples is provided, and includes decoding one or more of the individual encoded samples into respective decoded digital samples according to a decoding mode selected from a number of predetermined decoding.
