Abstract: A base for supporting a catalyst for exhaust gas purification, the base including a honeycomb structure obtained by superposing a metallic flat foil and a metallic wavy foil, characterized in that the wavy foil has offset portions where any adjoining two of the wave phases arranged in the axial direction of the honeycomb structure are offset from each other. The base is further characterized in that an oxide coating film has been formed in a given range of these offset portions which includes exposed edge surfaces that are exposed on the gas-inlet side, that the oxide coating film includes 30-99.9 mass % first alumina, with the remainder comprising at least one of second aluminas, Fe oxides, and Cr oxides, that the first alumina comprises α-alumina, that the second aluminas comprise one or more of γ-, θ-, χ-, δ-, η-, and κ-aluminas.

Abstract: An exhaust gas purification catalyst capable of stably maintaining and exhibiting excellent catalytic performance includes a wall-flow-type substrate, a first catalytic layer and a second catalytic layer. The first catalytic layer is provided to an internal portion of a partition wall in contact with an entrance cell. The second catalytic layer is provided to an internal portion of a partition wall in contact with an exit cell. The ratio (D2/D1) of the coating density D2 of the second catalytic layer to the coating density D1 of the first catalytic layer is 1.01 to 1.4.

Abstract: There is provided a catalytic converter that offers high exhaust gas cleaning performance by effectively utilizing a whole catalyst that constitutes the catalytic converter.In a catalytic converter (10), catalytic layers (2A, 2B) made of a noble metal catalyst are formed on cell wall surfaces of a substrate (1) having a cell structure, and the catalytic layers (2A, 2B) extend in a longitudinal direction of the substrate (1) along which gas flows. The substrate (1) has a central region (1A) having a relatively high cell density and a peripheral region (1B) having a relatively low cell density. The length of each of the catalytic layers (2B) in the longitudinal direction in the peripheral region (1B) is longer than the length of each of the catalytic layers (2A) in the longitudinal direction in the central region (1A).

Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide an exhaust gas purification catalyst which can exhibit sufficient purification performance even under a high Ga condition. The present invention relates to an exhaust gas purification catalyst comprising a substrate and a catalyst coating layer formed on the substrate, wherein the catalyst coating layer comprises catalyst particles, the catalyst coating layer having an upstream region extending by 40 to 60% of the entire length of the substrate from an upstream end of the catalyst in the direction of an exhaust gas flow and a downstream region corresponding to the remainder portion of the catalyst coating layer, the composition of the catalyst particle of the upstream region being different from that of the downstream region. The downstream region in the direction of an exhaust gas flow has a structure where a void is included in a large number, and furthermore high-aspect-ratio pores having an aspect ratio of 5 or more account for a certain percentage or more of the whole volume of voids. Thus, the exhaust gas purification catalyst exhibits enhanced purification performance.

Abstract: An exhaust gas filter for purifying exhaust gases including particulate matter discharged from an internal combustion engine includes a honeycomb structure whose axial direction matches an exhaust gas flow, a plug portion which selectively plugs upstream end faces of the honeycomb structure which faces the exhaust gas flow, and catalyst carried on the honeycomb structure.The honeycomb structure has a plurality of partition walls and cells surrounded by the partition walls, and pores formed inside partition walls between adjacent cells communicating with each other. The plurality of the cells have open cells which are penetrated in the axial direction and plugged cells having one upstream end which face the exhaust gas flow plugged by the plug portion. The honeycomb structure has a first region which does not carry the catalyst on the partition walls and a second region which carries the catalyst on the partition walls.

Abstract: Described are catalysts effective to abate NOx, hydrocarbons, and carbon monoxide from a gasoline engine exhaust gas. Such catalysts include a substrate having a first and second material disposed thereon, the first material effective to catalyze selective catalytic reduction of nitrogen oxides in the presence of ammonia and the second material effective to abate hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide, the first material comprising a molecular sieve promoted with copper and/or iron in a low loading, the second material comprising at least one oxide of Ni, Fe, Mn, Co, and Cu on a support selected from oxides of Ce, Ce—Zr, Zr, Mn, Pr and combinations thereof. Also described are gasoline engine exhaust gas treatment systems and methods of treating exhaust gas from a gasoline engine.
