摘要: A laminated transparent paper is disclosed therein which is obtained by laminating transparent papers on both the surfaces of a transparent polyester film via an adhesive, the surfaces of the transparent papers having coating layers of a coating solution mainly comprising an aqueous dispersion of at least one selected from the group consisting of an acrylonitrile-vinylformal-acrylic acid ester copolymer, a styrene-acrylic acid copolymer and a styrene-methacrylic acid copolymer, the laminated transparent paper having a Bekk smoothness of 20 seconds or more and an opacity of 45% or less. The laminated transparent paper permits obtaining precise printing without feathering when printing is made by the seal of a stamp ink or by a plotter or a printer of an ink jet system, suppresses the formation of roughness on a paper surface after the printing and drying, inhibits the deterioration of strength such as tearing strength at the time of heat fixing in a copying operation by an electrophotography system, and prevents blister from occurring owing to the separation of an adhesive layer.

摘要: Recyclable and compostable coated paper stock comprising a substrate coated on at least one surface with a primer coat and a top coat both of which are water based dispersions. The primer coat comprises a water based dispersion of a polymer selected from the group comprising acrylic polymers, acrylic copolymers, polyvinyl acetate, polyvinyl alcohol, poly-ethylene vinyl acetate, poly-ethylene vinyl chloride, styrene butadiene copolymers, polyvinylidiene chloride or starch. The top coat comprises a water based dispersion of a polymer selected from the group comprising acrylic polymers, acrylic copolymers, styrene butadiene copolymers or polyvinylidiene chloride. In another embodiment the top coat further includes a wax component comprising 15-90 wt. % of the polymer and 5-85 wt. % of the wax. The substrate is coated with a primer coat prior to the application of the top coat to seal the substrate surface. The top coat forms a film over the primer coat and imparts water and grease resistant properties to the coated paper stocks. The invention also includes processes for making and using the invented coated paper stocks.

摘要: This invention discloses a process for preparing a latex which is particularly beneficial for utilization in manufacturing high performance masking tape, which comprises the sequential steps of (1) terpolymerizing a vinyl aromatic monomer, an alkyl acrylate monomer, and an alkyl propenoic acid monomer in an aqueous polymerization medium by free radical polymerization to produce a seed polymer latex; (2) neutralizing the seed polymer latex to a pH of about 6 to about 9 by the addition of an alkali; (3) adding additional vinyl aromatic monomer and alkyl acrylate monomer to the neutralized seed polymer latex; and (4) allowing the additional vinyl aromatic monomer and alkyl acrylate monomer to polymerize in a second polymerization step to a solids content of about 30% to about 50% to produce the latex which is particularly beneficial for utilization in manufacturing high performance masking tape; wherein about 30 percent to about 50 percent of the total amount of vinyl aromatic monomer polymerized is polymerized in the first polymerization step; wherein about 30 percent to about 50 percent of the total amount of alkyl acrylate monomer polymerized is polymerized in the first polymerization step; wherein at least about 90 percent of the total amount of the alkyl propenoic acid polymerized is polymerized in the first polymerization step.

摘要: An applicator is disclosed for inserting a substance into a body cavity. An apparatus for coating paper and a method of forming the paper into an applicator are also disclosed. The applicator is especially useful for inserting a catamenial tampon into a woman's vagina. The applicator includes a tubular member formed from at least one layer of paper and has an interior and an exterior surface. The tubular member is capable of holding the substance which is to be inserted. At least one of the surfaces of the tubular member is coated with a water-insoluble coating which is comprised of from between about 95 to about 98 percent by weight of a polymeric material and from between about 2 to about 5 percent by weight of a slip agent. The coating provides the tubular member with a dry coefficient of kinetic friction ranging from between about 0.35 to about 0.56 and a wet coefficient of kinetic friction ranging from between about 0.78 to about 1.06. These low dry and wet coefficient of kinetic friction values facilitates insertion of the applicator into the body cavity and expulsion of the substance from the applicator.
