A system includes an operation device and an information storing apparatus, which are connected via a network. The operation device determines, based on information input from the outside of the operation device in response to an operation performed on the operation device, an electronic device among a plurality of electronic devices connected to the system, for causing the electronic device to input electronic data to the information storing apparatus, and sends, to the information storing apparatus, a first request to cause the determined electronic device to input the electronic data to the information storing apparatus. The information storing apparatus sends, to the determined electronic device, a second request based on the first request sent from the operation device, and stores the electronic data that has been sent from the determined electronic device based on the sent second request.

An information storage apparatus includes a storage unit having a storage area that is accessible via a network. A process to be executed using electronic data stored in the storage area is set up in association with the storage area. The information storage apparatus further includes a processor that executes a program stored in a memory to implement processes of detecting the electronic data being stored in the storage area, and executing the process set up in association with the storage area storing the electronic data using the electronic data stored therein. The processor further determines a waiting time from detecting the electronic data being saved in the storage area to requesting the execution of the process set up in association with the storage area storing the electronic data, based on the type of operation performed for storing the electronic data in the storage area via the network.

A method for forming a mesoporous silica layer composed of nanometer-sized, mesoporous silica particles on an optical substrate or a dense layer formed thereon, comprising the steps of (1) hydrolyzing and polycondensing alkoxysilane in a solvent containing a catalyst, a cationic surfactant and a nonionic surfactant to prepare composites comprising nanometer-sized, mesoporous silica particles and these surfactants, (2) applying a solution containing the composites to the substrate or the dense layer, (3) drying the solution to remove the solvent, and (4) removing both surfactants by baking the resultant coating at 120-250° C. in an oxygen-containing gas atmosphere, or plasma-treating it using an oxygen-containing gas.
