摘要: An apparatus may include a processor component caused to: generate map entries in map data descriptive of encrypted data blocks within a data file; use first map block encryption data to encrypt a first map extension of the map data; transmit the encrypted first map extension for storage within the data file; store the first map block encryption data within the second map extension; use second map block encryption data to encrypt a second map extension of the map data after storage of the first map block encryption data therein; transmit encrypted second map extension for storage within the data file; store the second map block encryption data within the map base; use third map block encryption data to encrypt a map base of the map data after storage of the second map block encryption data therein; and transmit the encrypted map base for storage within the data file.

摘要: Techniques are described for managing data storage using defined data storage management policies. In some situations, data storage may be managed using multiple supported storage mechanisms, such as different storage mechanisms of different types and/or in different locations. As one example, the described techniques may be performed to manage data that is available to a software program executing on a computer system, such as by caching a subset of the available data on one or more storage mechanisms to enhance later retrieval times of that data subset by the software program. In this example, the multiple supported storage mechanisms may include one or more storage mechanisms local to the computer system and one or more storage mechanisms remote from the computer system, and a defined data storage management policy for the software program may define particular types of data to store on particular storage mechanisms in particular manners.

An example method may include receiving orchestration workflow information from an orchestration workflow engine. The received orchestration workflow information may be in a native file format. The received orchestration workflow information may be converted from a native file format to a predefined format. A request to check in the converted orchestration workflow information may be received, and responsive to receiving the request, the converted orchestration workflow information is stored in a source control system. A request to check out the converted orchestration workflow information may be received from a client computer, and, responsive to receiving the request, orchestration workflow change information may be generated, which indicate changes that have been made to the orchestration workflow information. The orchestration workflow change information may be sent to the client computer.

摘要: The method begins with a processing module determining whether to reconstruct data corresponding to a plurality of data slices when the plurality of data slices is to be transferred from a first type of memory device to a second type of memory device. The method continues with the processing module retrieving the plurality of data slices from a first set of memory devices that are of the first type of memory, reconstructing at least a portion of the data from the plurality of data slice in accordance with a first error coding dispersal function to produce reconstructed data, encoding the reconstructed data in accordance with a second error coding dispersal function to produce a second plurality of data slices, and storing the second plurality of data slices in a second set of memory devices that are of the second type of memory when the data is to be reconstructed.

When additional unique pillar combinations of at least read threshold number of encoded data slices (EDSs) supported by EDSs may be needed, the computing device dispersed error encodes each data segment in accordance to generate additional pluralities of EDSs and distributedly stores the additional pluralities of EDSs associated respectively with the data object across the plurality of SUs within the DSN to support the additional unique pillar combinations of the at least read threshold number of EDSs.

摘要: A cluster of computer system nodes connected by a storage area network include two classes of nodes. The first class of nodes can act as clients or servers, while the other nodes can only be clients. The client-only nodes require much less functionality and can be more easily supported by different operating systems. To minimize the amount of data transmitted during normal operation, the server responsible for maintaining a cluster configuration database repeatedly multicasts the IP address, its incarnation number and the most recent database generation number. Each node stores this information and when a change is detected, each node can request an update of the data needed by that node. A client-only node uses the IP address of the server to connect to the server, to download the information from the cluster database required by the client-only node and to upload local disk connectivity information.
