Abstract: Various aspects described herein relate to hybrid automatic repeat/request (HARQ) communications in a wireless network. A first instance of a HARQ communication is transmitted or received over a first set of one or more links. Based on the transmitting or receiving the first instance of the HARQ communication, a scheduling grant can be received for a second instance of the HARQ communication over a second set of one or more links different from the first set of one or more links. The second instance of the HARQ communication can accordingly be transmitted or received over the second set of one or more links based at least in part on the scheduling grant.

Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure provide a code block group (CBG) based HARQ retransmission process in which HARQ retransmission is performed based on CBG units. The CBG based HARQ process uses a CBG failure mask that can reduce the signaling overhead of CBG-based HARQ retransmissions. A base station can determine the error CBGs from different UEs that share a slot, and generate a CBG failure mask that capture all the CBGs NACKs from the UEs.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described that provide for establishing periodic resources that may be used for low latency communications. An indication channel may be provided that may indicate that one or more higher latency transmissions may be punctured with low latency communications that are transmitted outside of the periodic resources. In some cases, the indication channel may be transmitted only in subsets of time resources, such as mini-slots of time resources within a slot, and a user equipment (UE) may monitor the indication channel to determine that a transmission is punctured. The UE may not monitor the indication channel in the periodic resources, and may thus conserve power compared to monitoring the indication channel in all time resources.

Abstract: A transmitter may initiate multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) communications with a receiver in which a number of codewords used in MIMO transmissions may be selected to provide enhanced communications for a particular service that is associated with the MIMO transmission. In cases where a lower-latency service is identified, a MIMO transmission may be configured with one codeword transmitted over multiple spatial layers, which may provide lower processing latency at a receiver relative to processing of multiple codewords. In cases where a mobile broadband service is identified, a MIMO transmission configured with two (or more) codewords may be transmitted over multiple spatial layers, which may provide increased data throughput relative to a single codeword MIMO transmission. A codeblock size for a transmission also may be selected based at least in part on a service associated with the transmission.

Abstract: In an aspect of the disclosure, a method, a computer program product, and an apparatus are provided. The method may be performed by a subordinate entity. The subordinate entity receives a transmission from the scheduling entity in a data portion of the subframe. The subordinate entity processes, in the subframe, at least a part of the transmission. The subordinate entity then determines whether to send an acknowledgment (ACK) signal for the transmission, the ACK signal to be transmitted in an ACK portion of the subframe before a remaining part of the transmission is processed, and sends the ACK signal to the scheduling entity in the ACK portion of the subframe based on the determination. The data portion and the ACK portion are contained in the subframe.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described for wireless communication. In one method, a method of wireless communication at a user equipment (UE) includes receiving a synchronization signal. The synchronization signal may be common to a plurality of cells within a network. The method further includes acquiring a timing of the network based on the synchronization signal, and transmitting a pilot signal in response to acquiring the timing of the network. The pilot signal may identify the UE and be concurrently receivable by the plurality of cells within the network. Other aspects, features, and embodiments are also claimed and described.

Abstract: A system and method for low latency acknowledgements includes a communication unit that includes a processor, a transmitter coupled to the processor, and a receiver coupled to the processor. The communication unit is configured to transmit a message to another communication unit, receive a first group of one or more repetitions of an acknowledgement signal from the another communication unit, and decode the acknowledgement signal prior to fully receiving a last repetition of a second group of one or more repetitions of the acknowledgement signal. The acknowledgement signal has a partially decodable structure. In some embodiments, each of the are repetitions of a same time domain waveform received during one symbol period. In some embodiments, a frequency domain characteristic of the time domain waveform consists of one non-zero tone for every K tones, K being equal to a sum of a number of repetition in the first and second groups.

Abstract: A configurable new radio (NR) uplink (UL) transmission may use transmit diversity. A user equipment (UE) may identify an uplink transmission of at least one stream as using one of cyclic prefix orthogonal frequency division multiplexing or discrete Fourier transform spread orthogonal frequency division multiplexing. The UE may apply a precoding matrix to the at least one identified stream. The precoding matrix changes over time. The precoding matrix may change based on closed loop feedback, a precoding cycling pattern, and/or a code division multiplexing group. The UE may transmit the at least one identified stream from multiple antennas according to the applied precoding matrix.

As another example, a device can indicate that a pilot from a prior transmission time interval (TTI) can be used for channel estimation. As another example, a device can employ frequency domain physical resource block (PRB) bundling with the bundling information signaling. As yet another example, a device can use an adjustable traffic-to-pilot ratio (TPR) for throughput optimization. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also discussed and claimed.
