Abstract: An antenna in a system is provided and includes a first device and at least one second mobile device, where the first device communicates with the second device(s). In an acquisition mode, for each antenna of an antenna system, a first item of communication quality information is obtained, and the antenna the first item of information of which is the highest is selected. In a pursuit mode, if the selected antenna is sectoral, a second item of communication quality information is obtained, and the antenna the second item of information of which is the highest is selected. For each antenna, a third item of communication quality is obtained if the selected antenna is the omnidirectional antenna, and from the third items of information, the antenna the third item of information of which is the highest is selected.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may be configured to communicating a first message with a base station in accordance with a first antenna configuration, a first set of resources, or both. The UE may transmit capability signaling indicating a capability of the UE to adjust the first antenna configuration, the first set of resources, or both, for channel reliability management. The UE may receive, based on the capability signaling, control signaling indicating one or more parameters for channel unreliability event detection associated with a downlink channel between the base station and the UE. The UE may then communicate a second message with the base station in accordance with a second antenna configuration, a second set of resources, or both, based at least in part on a channel unreliability event detected in accordance with the one or more parameters.

Abstract: Determining when beam failure of a beam pair link has occurred is provided. Transient obstructions, and other interference effects can cause the failure of a beam pair link which can comprise a transmit beam and a receive beam associated with respective antennas on a transmitter and receiver. Switching to another beam pair link can cause decrease throughput and efficiency however, so the improved mechanism for determining a failure includes taking into consideration the importance of the beam pair link before initiating the beam recovery process. The configurable beam failure protocol defined herein considers the relative importance of the configured beam pair links when declaring the beam pair link a failure. The importance of the beam pair link can be based on the amount of downlink control information in the transmission.
