Abstract:
There are provided a framing assisting means for displaying as a moving picture object data as well as a profile of an area that is synthesized with a foreground of selected background data on an LCD 26 in a first magnification, a recording means for storing the object data selected by a shutter instruction in a nonvolatile memory to correlate with the selected background data, and a playing means for displaying as a still picture the object data stored in the nonvolatile memory and the background data correlated with the object data on the LCD 26 by applying a magnification varying process that is used to display the object data on the LCD 26 in a magnification smaller than the first magnification.
Abstract:
Embodiments of the disclosed innovations provide systems and methods for automatically locating and retrieving digital supplemental materials and counterparts of rendered documents. These systems and methods are especially useful when the provider or copyright holder of the digital document charges a fee for access to the digital materials. Some embodiments solve the technical problem of allowing a user to access restricted digital content associated with a rendered document via a search string captured from the rendered document. Some embodiments further provide automatic intermediation to gain access to protected digital materials.
Abstract:
Using correlated stochastic screens, time stamps, text messages, logos and other variable data can be incorporated into printed halftone images in real-time as invisible watermarks. A reference stochastic screen, which is suitable for halftoning the input image, is applied to the grayscale input in locations that lie outside of the watermark. A multi-partitioned watermark halftone screen, which has at least one partition with threshold values that are positively correlated (e.g., identical to) those of the reference stochastic screen and one partition with threshold values that are negatively correlated (e.g., conjugated with) those of the reference stochastic screen, is applied to the grayscale input in locations that are to incorporate the watermark.
Abstract:
The application discloses various methods and systems to provide substitute information or objects for, e.g., substitution when making copies of media objects (e.g., audio, video or images). One method includes: receiving i) an identifier obtained from a steganographic encoding encoded in a media object, and ii) state information associated with the steganographic encoding or associated with the media object; obtaining—from a storage location—a substitute media object corresponding to the identifier; adjusting the substitute media object in accordance with the state information; providing the adjusted, substituted media object. Another method includes: receiving an identifier obtained from a steganographically encoded media object; accessing memory associated with at least a portion of the identifier to obtain an address of a remote data repository, the remote data repository including at least a plurality of substitute media objects corresponding respectively to a plurality of identifiers; forwarding: i) at least a portion of the identifier obtained from the steganographic encoding, and ii) an instruction to the remote data repository at the address, wherein the instruction includes a request to provide a substitute media object corresponding to at least a portion of the identifier obtained from the steganographic encoding. Of course, other methods and combinations are provided as well.
Abstract:
A digital camera inputs an image capture guide list including at least one of image titles as targets to be recorded, and displays the image title (s) included in the image capture guide list on its display part. User takes a picture or pictures while checking the image title(s) in the image capture guide list.
Abstract:
A background image wherein areas in which still images are to be rendered have been defined is prepared. Product images are obtained by multiplying mask images and positioned still images together. The background image and the product images are added to obtain a sum image that constitutes one frame of a slideshow. A plurality of still-image portions obtained from a plurality of still images in one frame are contained in the sum image. An advanced slideshow is thus obtained.

Abstract:
A system for processing a visual capture operation as described. The system receives an indication of a visual capture operation performed from a rendered document. The indication specifies both a text sequence capture as part of the capture operation and a supplemental marking captured as part of the capture operation. The system determines an action to perform in response to receiving the indication, based both upon the text sequence specified in the indication and the supplemental markings specified by the indication.
Abstract:
A portable device having scanning, imaging or other data-capture capability is described. In some cases, the portable device can indicate to the user when enough information has been captured to uniquely identify a source document. In some cases, the portable device calculates timestamps and location-stamps indicating when and where a data capture occurred. In some cases, the portable device is controlled by gestures. In some cases, the portable scanning device has associated billing and content/service subscription information.
Abstract:
A method and computer software program for publishing images at an accessible website and for ordering goods and/or services to be provided by a fulfillment provider. A high resolution digital image is forwarded from a user to a fulfillment provider that stores the high resolution digital image and associates a unique ID with the high resolution image. The unique ID identifies the storage location of where the high resolution image is stored and the internet address of the fulfillment provider. The user receives the unique ID that is associated with the high resolution image. The user then forwards to an accessible website a low resolution image copy of the high resolution image and the unique ID. The website publishes the low resolution image on the accessible website along with an action button that is associated with the unique ID. Selection of the action button by a viewer causes the viewer being forwarded to the fulfillment provider so that the viewer will to be able to access the high resolution image stored by the fulfillment provider.
