Abstract:
A method of fabricating a display system includes bonding a silicon substrate to a second substrate with an insulating layer. The silicon substrate is thinned to form a thin film silicon-on-insulator (SOI) structure. A matrix display circuit is formed with the SOI structure. A light shield pattern is formed over regions of the matrix display circuit. A light source, the matrix display circuit and a magnifying lens are positioned within a display housing such that light from the light source is directed onto the display and an image on the display is magnified by the lens for viewing by a user.
Abstract:
A display panel is formed using a single crystal thin-film transistors that are transferred to substrates for display fabrication. Pixel arrays form light valves or switches that can be fabricated with color filter elements over the pixel elements. The resulting circuit panel is then incorporated into a color projection display system with a light emitting or liquid crystal material to provide the desired light valve.
Abstract:
A coated article includes a low-emissivity (low-E) coating supported by a substrate (e.g., glass substrate) for use in a window, where the low-E coating is exposed to ultraviolet (UV) radiation in order to improve the coating's and thus the coated article's electrical, optical and/or thermal blocking properties. Exposing the low-E coating to UV radiation, e.g., emitted from a UV lamp(s) and/or UV laser(s), allows for selective heating of a contact/seed layer which transfers energy to the adjacent IR reflecting layer.
Abstract:
This invention relates to formulations which contain at least one active peptide intended to be used for prevention or treatment of a condition in an animal or human. Said active peptide has been expressed in a system that improves the conservation of those properties essential to the prophylactic or therapeutic effect of said peptide before and after delivery to an animal or human and until the peptide delivers its activity at the effector site within said animal or human. The invention is particularly relevant to formulations of oral or mucosal vaccines or biopharmaceuticals. The active peptide of the formulation is recombinantly expressed in cells or whole animals. In a preferred embodiment of this invention the active polypeptide of the formulation has been recombinantly expressed in insect cells or whole insect larvae.
Abstract:
A co-edge connector (200) is provided that includes a housing (200a) that supports a plurality of terminals (210). One side of the housing includes a slot (230) that is configured to accept a panel (30) and first terminal contacts (213) are positioned in the slot. An exposed support surface (206) extends from a wall (204) on a second side and second terminal contacts (211) extend above the support surface. In operation, if the panel inserted into the slot is inserted in a vertical direction, the second contacts can engage pads of panel where the panel is mounted on the housing by moving the panel in a vertical direction.
Abstract:
The present invention relates generally to electronic trading systems. More particularly, the present invention relates to systems and methods for providing, within an electronic trading process, real-time or near real-time pre- and post-trade analytics to assist traders make the decision of how to trade electronically a particular tradeable asset. Pre- and post-trade analytics can be displayed to a trader without affecting their workflow. Moreover, pre- and post-trade analytics can be used to make trading recommendations, to select or modify a trading strategy, to select and or modify trading destinations, brokers, algorithms or venues, and/or to automatically generate and transmit electronic trade orders or to effect trades.
Abstract:
The embodiments herein provide a device for sealing an interface having an opening for a wire to pass through the interface. A pair of sealing blocks may be used where one block contains a protrusion and the opposing block contains a recess. The protrusion and recess preferably have an apex with a round having approximately the same dimension as the radius of the wire. A pair of posts may be positioned on opposing sides of the opening. One sealing block may contain an aperture for accepting one of the posts while the second sealing block may contain an aperture for accepting the opposing post. The posts may be threaded so that they can accept a threaded fastener. Exemplary embodiments may utilize mounting plates which may contain a flange such that squeezing the opposing flanges together can cause inward forces on the sealing blocks.
Abstract:
A method for producing polyhydroxyalkanoate (PHA), comprising (i) culturing in a culture medium comprising terephthalic acid and/or a salt thereof and/or an ester thereof one or more bacterial strains which are capable of accumulating PHA from terephthalic acid or a salt or ester thereof and which are selected from Pseudomonas putida strain GO16 having the accession number NCIMB 41538, Pseudomonas putida strain GO19 having the accession number NCIMB 41537, and Pseudomonas frederiksbergensis strain GO23 having the accession number NCIMB 41539; and (ii) recovering the PHA produced from the culture medium. The invention also provides Pseudomonas putida strain GO16 having the accession number NCIMB 41538; Pseudomonas putida strain GO19 having the accession number NCIMB 41537; and Pseudomonas frederiksbergensis strain GO23 having the accession number NCIMB 41539.
Abstract:
Certain example embodiments relate to sputter-deposited transparent conductive coatings (TCCs) that are capable of surviving the harsh environments of ovens so that they can be included, for example, in oven door applications. In certain example embodiments, zirconium oxide (e.g., ZrO2 or other suitable stoichiometry) may be used as a protective overcoat to protect an underlying Ag layer from corrosion in the atmosphere. In certain three lite oven door example embodiments, surfaces 2 and 4 each have an Ag-based TCC sputter-deposited thereon. The Ag-based TCC may have a sheet resistance of about either 4 or 5 ohms/square in certain example embodiments.
