    摘要: A lighting unit 12 of the present invention includes a first light source unit LU1, a second light source unit LU2, and a light guide plate 19. The first light source unit LU1 includes a first light source group 171 and a first board 181 having a first mount portion 181a and a first empty portion 181b. The second light source unit LU2 includes a second light source group 172 and a second board having a second mount portion 182a and a second empty portion 182b. The light guide plate 19 is a plate member and includes a first light entrance portion 191c, a first fixing portion 191b, a second light entrance portion 192c, a second fixing portion 192b, and a light exit portion 19a. The light guide plate 19 includes the first light entrance portion 191c on one edge portion 191 of the plate member and light enters the light guide plate 19 through the first light entrance portion 191c. The light guide plate 19 includes the first fixing portion 191b adjacent to the first light entrance portion 191 and on the one edge portion 191 and fixes the first light source unit LU1 with being in close contact with the first empty portion 181b. The light guide plate 19 includes the second light entrance portion 192c that is on another edge portion 192 and overlapped with the first fixing portion 191b. The light guide plate 19 further includes the second fixing portion 192b that is adjacent to the second light entrance portion 192c and overlapped with the first light entrance portion 191c. The second fixing portion 192b is in closely contact with the second empty portion 182b to fix the second light source unit LU2.

Alternatively, the interpolation signal generated from the upper and lower side scanning lines with respect to a scanning line concerned for the video signal can also be inserted into each of corresponding interlace non-scanning portions (101) instead of using the black signal.

    摘要: A matrix of display elements is driven on a time sharing basis to switch between two optically distinct states in response to a pulse train applied to the selected display elements. The pulse train includes display control pulses having a duration and electric field effective to set the display elements to the desired optically distinct state, and does not allow, after the application of the display control pulse, existence of a pulse which would change the optical state, and also includes a plurality of pulses having the same pulse shapes in different polarities. AC pulses which hold the optical state are applied to the display elements after the application of the display control pulse. The AC pulses are obtained by superposing high frequency AC pulses to the AC pulses having an amplitude lower than the display control pulse.
