Abstract:
A cover panel for a fitout article or article of equipment for a kitchen or laboratory is provided. The cover panel includes a glass or glass ceramic substrate and a coating on one side of the substrate. The substrate and the coating together have a light transmittance of 1% to 70%. The coating has a colour locus in the CIELAB colour space within the range of coordinates L* of 20 to 65, a* of −6 to 6 and b* of −6 to 6. The colour locus of the D65 standard illuminant light, after passing through the substrate and the coating, is within a white region W1 determined in the chromaticity diagram CIExyY-2° by the following coordinates: White region W1 xY 0.270.21 0.220.25 0.320.37 0.450.45 0.470.34 0.360.29.

The method includes: applying a layer onto a glass or glass ceramic substrate, the layer comprising a sol-gel and/or a polysiloxane; patterning the layer; and applying a metallic-looking layer onto the patterned layer.

Certain example embodiments relate to sputter-deposited transparent conductive coatings (TCCs) that are capable of surviving the harsh environments of ovens so that they can be included, for example, in oven door applications. In certain example embodiments, zirconium oxide (e.g., ZrO2 or other suitable stoichiometry) may be used as a protective overcoat to protect an underlying Ag layer from corrosion in the atmosphere. In three lite oven door example embodiments, surface 1 has a TCC pyrolytically disposed thereon, surface 2 has a TCC sputter-deposited thereon and, optionally, surface 3 has a TCC sputter-deposited thereon. In two lite oven door example embodiments, surface 1 has a TCC pyrolytically disposed or sputter-deposited thereon, and surface 2 has a TCC sputter-deposited thereon.

The heat reflecting arrangement with an improved high heat resistance, e.g. 100 hours at 500° C., includes a substrate, a heat reflecting layer (A) on at least one side of the substrate, which contains indium tin oxide (ITO), and a barrier layer (B) that covers the heat reflecting layer (A), which contains a metal oxide and/or a metal nitride. A fireplace or baking oven with a viewing window having this layer system with the heat reflecting layer is also described. In addition a process for providing the heat reflecting arrangement is described.

A thermally insulating glass for ovens includes a glass substrate, a thermally insulating layer and a protective layer. The glass substrate has an inner and outer surfaces, and the inner or/and outer surfaces are coated with the thermally insulating layer made of silver. The protective layer made of silicone oil is coated on the thermally insulating layer for protecting the thermally insulating layer from being oxidized. Silver can greatly enhance thermally insulating performance and reduce heat dissipation and energy consumption. Based on the high temperature resistance, protective properties and transparency of the silicone oil layer, the protective layer prevents the thermally insulating layer from being oxidized, and the work status can be observed. The process of preparing the thermally insulating glass is simple and the cost is low.
