Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure provide apparatus, methods, processing systems, and computer readable mediums for indicating or switching among or between different precoding types for one or more communication elements. The one or more communication elements may be antennas of a wireless communication device (e.g., a UE or a BS) or elements of a reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS). Techniques herein relate to indicating to one or more devices which precoding type to use for precoding one or more communication elements. For example, the techniques herein may be used for precoding communication elements of any suitable wireless communication device, such as antennas of a UE or BS, or RIS elements of a RIS.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. The method includes receiving, from a base station, control information identifying a configuration for transmission of an aperiodic sounding reference signal, receiving, from the base station, a downlink control message including a set of one or more blocks, where each block of the one or more blocks includes a sounding reference signal request in accordance with the configuration for transmission of an aperiodic sounding reference signal, an indication of an available slot corresponding to that block, and one or more transmit power control commands, and transmitting, during the available slot corresponding to a block of the set of one or more blocks, the aperiodic sounding reference signal in accordance with a power level indicated by the one or more transmit power control commands corresponding to the block.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may be configured to transmit, to a base station via a reconfigurable surface at a first transmission occasion, a first reference signal associated with a first reflection matrix configuration used by the reconfigurable surface to reflect signals, the first reflection matrix configuration included within a set of reflection matrix configurations. The UE may then transmit, to the base station via the reconfigurable surface at a second transmission occasion, a second reference signal associated with a second reflection matrix configuration used by the reconfigurable surface to reflect signals, the second reflection matrix configuration included within the set of reflection matrix configurations. The may then communicate with the base station via the reconfigurable surface based on transmitting the first reference signal, the second reference signal, or both.

Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive, from a base station, a channel state information (CSI) report configuration including configuration information that identifies a channel measurement resource associated with a first numerology and configuration information that identifies an interference measurement resource associated with a second numerology that is different from the first numerology. The UE may perform a channel measurement on the channel measurement resource associated with the first numerology and an interference measurement on the interference measurement resource associated with the second numerology. The UE may transmit, to the base station, a CSI report based at least in part on the channel measurement and the interference measurement. Numerous other aspects are described.

Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive, from a network node, information that indicates a periodic sequence of network energy saving (NES) states that are each associated with an antenna configuration of the network node. The UE may receive, from the network node during a current time period, one or more downlink transmissions using a maximum quantity of multiple input multiple output (MIMO) layers associated with an active NES state that is identified for a current time period based at least in part on the periodic sequence of NES states. Additionally or alternatively, the UE may transmit, to the network node during the current time period, one or more sounding reference signal (SRS) transmissions using an SRS antenna sounding configuration associated with the active NES state for the current time period. Numerous other aspects are provided.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. The described techniques support decoupled uplink and downlink communications via reconfigurable intelligent surfaces. Generally, the described techniques provide for using different passive network nodes for uplink and downlink communications. A user equipment (UE) may receive, from a base station, an indication of a first transmission configuration indicator state for downlink communications with the base station and a second transmission configuration indicator state for uplink communications with the base station. The UE may receive, from the base station via a first passive device (e.g., a first reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS)) associated with the first transmission configuration indicator state, a downlink message in a radio frame. The UE may transmit, to the base station via a second passive device (e.g., a second RIS) associated with the second transmission configuration indicator state, an uplink message in the radio frame.
