    摘要: Compounds of the structure:H(OCH.sub.2 CH.sub.2).sub.k ORO X.sub.m (CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 O).sub.n H (I)where R is a divalent hydrocarbyl or hetero-substituted hydrocarbylgroup having up to 10 carbon atoms,X is --CH.sub.2 CH(R.sup.1)O-- or --(CH.sub.2).sub.4 O--,R.sup.1 is methyl or ethyl,m is from 0.5 to 3.0 andk+n is from 3 to 10the number of X groups not exceeding 25% by weight of the compound are disclosed. Such compounds are useful as hydraulic fluids. R is typically --(CH.sub.2).sub.x -- where x is from 4 to 10. A process for preparing an alkoxylating agent with a diol HOROH in a first step and further reacting the product of the first step with ethylene oxide is also disclosed. A typical diol is 1,6-hexanediol; a typical alkoxylating agent is propylene oxide.

The preferred process of preparation is by the reaction of alkylene oxide with linoleyl alcohol in the presence of a catalyst which is a Bronsted base.The compounds are useful as reactive surfactants in aqueous emulsion polymerisation processes.

    摘要: Isotactic poly(glycidyl nitrate) useful in solid propellants is produced by polymerizing chiral (R) glycidyl nitrate or its enantiomer, (S) glycidyl nitrate. Chiral (R) glycidyl nitrate or its enantiomer is prepared by sequential treatment of chiral (S) glycidyl tosylate or its enantiomer with nitric acid and sodium hydroxide. Chiral (S) glycidyl tosylate or its enantiomer, (R) glycidyl tosylate, can be produced by Sharpless epoxidation of allyl alcohol or by direct tosylation or commercially available chiral glycidol. Likewise, chiral (R) glycidyl nitrate or its enantiomer, (S) glycidyl nitrate, can be prepared directly via nitration of (S) or (R) glycidol, respectively.

    摘要: Hydroxyterminated prepolymers, used in curing reactions with isocyanates to produce elastomers, are prepared by continuously adding over periods of 12-50 hours an oxetane monomer to a reaction mixture containing a diol initiator and a catalyst capable of catalyzing the cationic quasi-living cationic polymerization of the monomer, the rate of addition to maintain stoichiometric excess over the monomer. Polymerization is terminated by adding brine. Polymers of increased molecular weight and reduced impurity levels result.

    摘要: An alkylene oxide is reacted in a loop reactor with an organic compound having a reactive hydrogen atom, a gas circulation and a liquid circulation around the reactor being provided and being coupled with one another via an ejector mixing nozzle. To ensure completeness of the reaction and suppression of the formation of by-products such as dioxane, it is essential to reduce the temperature of the entire alkylene oxide gas phase to a temperature below that of the liquid phase, and this is effected by feeding and evaporating liquid alkylene oxide and by cooling of the gas phase on the unit walls.

    摘要: A novel anti-foaming agent is described which contains a compound produced by an addition reaction ofa mono-substituted poly(alkylene glycol) represented by the general formula:RO(AO).sub.x H (I) wherein R represents a monovalent hydrocarbon group having from 1 to 20 carbon atoms, AO represents a structural unit of an oxyalkylene chain, said structural unit having from 2 to 4 carbon atoms, and x represents a number of 1 to 80, witha polyepoxy compound represented by the general formula: ##STR1## wherein Q represents a residue of an organic compound containing in the molecule thereof 2 or more hydroxyl groups and either of a hydrocarbon chain having from 2 to 20 carbon atoms and an oxyalkylene chain having a polymerization degree of from 2 to 100, said residue having a valence of y and being formed by removing from 2 to 8 active hydrogen atoms from the organic compound, and y represents a number of 2 to 8.
