The present invention is to provide a means that can reduce coloring of secondary alcohol alkoxylate. The present invention relates to a method for producing a secondary alcohol alkoxylate which comprises feeding an alkylene oxide from a plurality of positions in a tubular reactor to a secondary alcohol to react them, wherein the alkylene oxide is fed in such a manner that a feeding interval is extended and a feeding rate is increased each with a specific proportion.

Provided are purification methods, comprising: (a) providing an organic solvent and a phenolic peroxide formation inhibitor, wherein the organic solvent has a first boiling point at standard atmospheric pressure (bp1) and the phenolic peroxide formation inhibitor has a second boiling point at standard atmospheric pressure (bp2) that satisfy the following inequality (I): bp2≤(1.10)(bp1) (I); and (b) heating the organic solvent and the phenolic peroxide formation inhibitor to a temperature causing the organic solvent and phenolic peroxide formation inhibitor to vaporize, and (ii) condensing the vaporized organic solvent and peroxide formation inhibitor to provide a purified mixture of the organic solvent and peroxide formation inhibitor. The methods find particular use in the purification of solvents that are useful in process chemicals for the manufacture of semiconductor devices.

Provided is a method for manufacturing a glycol based compound. The method comprises agitating a mixture of a first glycol based compound, a hydrazide based compound, and a sulfonic acid based compound, and performing fractional distillation of resultant materials of the agitating to recover a second glycol based compound having a formaldehyde content of 0 ppm.

Esteramine compositions and their derivatives are disclosed. The esteramines comprise a reaction product of a metathesis-derived C10-C17 monounsaturated acid, octadecene-1,18-dioic acid, or their ester derivatives with a tertiary alkanolamine. Derivatives made by quaternizing, sulfonating, alkoxylating, sulfating, and/or sulfitating the esteramines are also disclosed. In one aspect, the ester derivative of the C10-C17 monounsaturated acid or octadecene-1,18-dioic acid is a lower alkyl ester. In other aspects, the ester derivative is a modified triglyceride made by self-metathesis of a natural oil or an unsaturated triglyceride made by cross-metathesis of a natural oil with an olefin. The esteramines and derivatives are valuable for a wide variety of end uses, including cleaners, fabric treatment, hair conditioning, personal care (liquid cleansing products, conditioning bars, oral care products), antimicrobial compositions, agricultural uses, and oil field applications.

The present invention relates to methods for the alkylene oxide-free preparation of compositions comprising polyetherols using one or more alkylene carbonates as reactants. The polyetherol compositions prepared according to the invention ideally do not comprise carbonate or comprise almost no carbonate. The present invention also comprises the use of alkylene carbonate for preparing polyetherols or compositions comprising polyetherols and polyetherols or compositions comprising polyetherols prepared by the method according to the invention.

The invention relates to nonyl alcohols with a low degree of branching and derivatives produced using them. In particular the present invention relates to mixture of primary nonyl alcohols in which at least 80% of the alkyl chains are linear and at least 15% of the alkyl chains are branched at the 2-carbon position and its derivatives. The low degree of branching produces derivatives that are more elongated and less bulky that similar derivatives produced with more highly branched alcohols.

Aqueous hard surface cleaner compositions derived from metathesized natural oil feedstocks are disclosed. In one aspect, the compositions comprise at least one anionic surfactant derived from a metathesis-derived C10-C17 monounsaturated acid, 5 octadecene-1,18-dioic acid, or their ester derivatives. In another aspect, aqueous hard surface cleaners comprising at least one nonionic or amphoteric surfactant derived from a metathesis-derived C10-C17 monounsaturated acid, octadecene-1,18-dioic acid, or their ester derivatives are disclosed. The aqueous cleaners noted above rival or outperform commercial baselines in a Gardner straight-line washability test. Industrial degreasers comprising a C10 or C12 amide solvent and derived from a metathesis-derived C10-C17 monounsaturated acid are superior to commercial standards.

Fatty amine compositions made from a metathesis-derived C10-C17 monounsaturated acid, octadecene-1,18-dioic acid, or their ester derivatives are disclosed. In another aspect, fatty amidoamines made by reacting a metathesis-derived C10-C17 monounsaturated acid, octadecene-1,18-dioic acid, or their ester derivatives with an aminoalkyl-substituted tertiary amine are disclosed. The fatty amines or amidoamines are advantageously sulfonated, sulfitated, oxidized, or reduced. In other aspects, the ester derivative is a modified triglyceride made by self-metathesis of a natural oil or an unsaturated triglyceride made by cross-metathesis of a natural oil with an olefin.

Quaternary ammonium, betaine, or sulfobetaine compositions derived from fatty amines, wherein the fatty amine is made by reducing the amide reaction product of a metathesis-derived C10-C17 monounsaturated acid, octadecene-1,18-dioic acid, or their ester derivatives and a secondary amine, are disclosed. Quaternary ammonium, betaine, or sulfobetaine compositions derived from fatty amidoamines, wherein the amidoamine is made by reacting of a metathesis-derived C10-C17 monounsaturated acid, octadecene-1,18-dioic acid, or their ester derivatives and an aminoalkyl-substituted tertiary amine, are also disclosed.
