摘要： A semi-rigid, flexible duct including a pair of coaxial sleeves, namely an inner sleeve and an outer sleeve disposed parallel to and about the inner sleeve and a resilient wound element disposed between the sleeves. Each of the inner sleeve and the outer sleeve includes a first layer having metallic properties and at least one of them further includes a second, plastic layer bonded to the first layer. The wound element imparts corrugations to the two sleeves, such that the duct is extendible between a compacted configuration suitable for storage and for shipping and an extended configuration suitable for installation in a gas transport arrangement. All of the layers of both the inner sleeve and the outer sleeve are of a thickness predetermined to together render the duct substantially rigid when in an extended configuration and predetermined to together enable the duct to maintain its substantial rigidity upon extension from a compacted configuration.

The insulation system comprises a thermally insulating layer and a vapour barrier arranged on one side of the thermally insulating layer. The insulation system has a hygroscopic material which is arranged between the vapour barrier and the thermally insulating layer, which hygroscopic material is at least partially connected with the vapour barrier. A combination of the vapour barrier and the hygroscopic material is connected with the thermally insulating layer in such a manner that the hygroscopic material partially makes contact with the thermally insulating layer.

摘要： A method and material for covering exposed insulation surfaces to protect them from moisture and other environmental factors. The covering typically includes a first, exposed layer of a metal-containing foil, a second layer of a metal-containing foil, a layer of a polymer disposed between the first two layers of foil, a third layer of a metal-containing foil, and a second layer of polymer disposed between the second and third layers of foil. A layer of a pressure sensitive adhesive is applied to one of the exposed layers of foil, and the pressure sensitive adhesive layer is covered with a release liner prior to application. The foil provides the necessary moisture and weather seal while the polymer provides the necessary strength and puncture resistance. The overall thickness of the laminate typically is less than 100 microns, permitting it to be easily cut and manipulated at the job site while providing an effective, long lasting weather seal.

The coating matarials (14) possess one-way breathability characteristics with respect to water and aqueous solutions. That is, the coatings are essentially impermeable to liquid water and permeable to water vapor. Vapor from water in insulation coated by the material may thus pass through the coating, whereas liquid water is effectively prevented from passing through the coating and entering the insulation.
