Abstract:
An improved system and method for digital image classification is provided. A host computer having a processor is coupled to a memory storing thereon reference feature data. A graphics processing unit (GPU) having a processor is coupled to the host computer and is configured to obtain, from the host computer, feature data corresponding to the digital image; to access, from the memory, the one or more reference feature data; and to determine a semi-metric distance based on a Poisson-Binomial distribution between the feature data and the one or more reference feature data. The host computer is configured to classify the digital image using the determined semimetric distance.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to the field of modifying Jatropha branching, flowering time, fruiting and seed setting. More specifically, the present invention relates to a method for control and optimization of Jatropha curcas flowering time, fruiting and seed production by manipulating one gene from Jatropha. The present invention can be used in various Jatropha breeding efforts.
Abstract:
Monoclonal antibodies and related binding proteins that are specific for conformational epitopes of avian influenza virus H5 subtype hemagglutinin glycoprotein are provided. The antibodies can be used for the detection and treatment of H5 subtype AIV in specimens.
Abstract:
An exposed electrode negative air ion device, either stand-alone or mounted in an exposed environment 56 as part of a negative air ion panel system 50. Each device comprises: (a) an electronics module 22, the electronics module 22 including a negative voltage generator 22B; and (b) an exposed electrode 10, the exposed electrode 10 including a mat surface 11 of intertwined individual fibres electrically connected to the negative voltage generator 22B. The mat surface 11 has a minimum mean resistance of RMIN to restrict a maximum capacitive current discharge below a capacitive current discharge detection threshold. The negative voltage generator 22B is configured to generate a negative voltage source 23 from a power supply 21 within a set of electrical parameters. The set of electrical parameters includes a maximum preset negative voltage of VMAX and a maximum operating current, the maximum operating current set below or equal to a direct current detection threshold.
Abstract:
The present invention generally relates to an aquatic farming system (200) comprising one or more stacked levels of an array of one or more aquatic farming modules (100). Each aquatic farming module (100) comprises an intermodal container (102) comprising a pair of opposing side walls (104) and a pair of opposing end entrances (106), and a housing structure (110) disposed in the intermodal container (102) and extending between the side walls (104) thereof. The aquatic farming module (100) further comprises a set of access doors (130) disposed at one or both end entrances (106) of the intermodal container (100), the access doors (130) actuatable planarly for selectively opening/closing the respective end entrances (106). Selective opening/closing of the end entrances (106) of the intermodal containers (102) in each stacked level facilitates user accessibility to the housing structures (110) in said stacked level for farming aquatic organisms.
