摘要: A recycled cellulose pulp composition is provided which comprises recycled cellulosic fibers and cellulose ester staple fibers. A wet-laid fibrous product is also provided which comprises recycled cellulosic fibers and cellulose ester staple fibers. A bailed article is also provided that comprises recycled cellulosic fibers and cellulose ester staple fibers. In embodiments, the recycled cellulosic fibers are present in an amount of 50 wt % or more, based on the total dry weight of fibers, and the cellulose ester staple fibers are present in an amount sufficient to increase the Canadian standard freeness (CSF) of the composition by 5% or more compared to a 100 wt % cellulosic fiber pulp composition processed under similar conditions.

摘要: A bale of sheets made of virgin cellulose fibers and cellulose ester (CE) staple fibers can be fed to a hydropulper. The CE staple fibers have: i. a denier per filament (DPF) of less than 3, or ii. a cut length of less than 6 mm, or iii. crimping, or iv. a combination of any two or more of (i)-(iii). The bales can be fed and dropped in as entire bales to a hydropulper, or a blend tank directly or indirectly in fluid communication with a hydropulper, using the same feed system employed for feeding cellulose to the hydopulper and avoiding having to defiberize by pulling or drawing fibers from a box container into a hydropulper.

摘要: The present application relates to a cross-linked fiber and more specifically to fibers that have been subjected to cold caustic extraction (at less than 60° C.) to reduce the hemicellulose content of the fibers by at least 50% and then cross-linked with a cross-linking agent that is curable at a modest temperature, such as less than 160° C. The treated cross-linked fibers preferably have a hemicellulose content that is less than 5% by weight of the fiber. Preferable cross-linking agents are polyamide-epichlorohydrin (PAE) resins, polyamide-polyamine-epichlorohydrin (PPE) resins, and polydiallylamine-epichlorohydrin resins. The cross-linked fibers are readily dispersible in water even without fiberization and generally form webs and products having relatively few knits or knots. As such, the cross-linked fibers of the present invention are well suited for use in the manufacture of tissue webs and products, particularly wet-laid tissue webs and products.

摘要: The elasticity of elastic, absorbent structures, e.g., diapers, is improved without a significant compromise of the absorbency of the structure by the use of bicomponent and/or biconstituent elastic fibers. The absorbent structures typically comprise a staple fiber, e.g., cellulose fibers, and a bicomponent and/or a biconstituent elastic. The bicomponent fiber typically has a core/sheath construction. The core comprises an elastic thermoplastic elastomer, preferably a TPU, and the sheath comprises a homogeneously branched polyolefin, preferably a homogeneously branched substantially linear ethylene polymer. In various embodiments of the invention, the elasticity is improved by preparation techniques that enhance the ratio of elastic fiber: cellulose fiber bonding versus cellulose fiber:cellulose fiber bonding. These techniques include wet and dry high intensity agitation of the elastic fibers prior to mixing with the cellulose fibers, deactivation of the hydrogen bonding between cellulose fibers, and grafting the elastic fiber with a polar group containing compound, e.g. maleic anhydride.

摘要: A tissue product containing a multi-layered paper web that has at least one layer formed from a blend of pulp fibers and synthetic fibers is provided. By containing at least one layer of synthetic and pulp fibers, it has been discovered that lint and slough of a tissue product formed according to the present invention can be substantially reduced. In addition, by limiting the amount and layers to which the synthetic fibers are applied, the increase in hydrophobicity and cost of the tissue product may be minimized, while still achieving the desired reduction in lint and slough. In some embodiments, the tendency of the synthetic fibers to sink or float in the fibrous furnish may be minimized to enhance processability by selecting certain types of synthetic fibers, e.g., those with a certain density imbalance.
