Abstract: A video server is configured to provide streaming video to players of computer games over a computing network. The video server can provided video of different games to different players simultaneously. This is accomplished by rendering several video streams in parallel using a single GPU (Graphics Processing Unit). The output of the GPU is provided to graphics processing pipelines that are each associated with a specific client/player and are dynamically allocated as needed. A client qualifier may be used to assure that only clients capable of presenting the streaming video to a player at a minimum level of quality receive the video stream. Video frames provided by the video server optionally include overlays added to the output of the GPU. These overlays can include voice data received from another game player.

Abstract: The virtual location of a player in a location-based game is determined from the real-world location of the player's client device. The location-based game provides the player access to one or more chat room based on their location. To determine the locations of chat room, a server analyzes player locations in a geographic region, clusters player locations to identify centroids, and adjusts the clusters based on constraints. The server selects chat room locations (e.g., at points of interest) to more evenly balance the number of players in each chat room while complying with one or more restraints on the size of the geographic area served by each chat room.

Abstract: Systems and methods for reducing hops associated with a head mounted display are described. The head mounted display includes a communications circuit for receiving and transmitting interactive media associated with a game program via a network. The interactive media is processed by the game cloud system and streamed directly to the communications circuit of the head mounted display. The head mounted display further includes a user input circuit for receiving an action from a user to generate an input, which includes position and motion detected by the user input circuit. The head mounted display includes a game processing circuit for decoding the interactive media received from the network. The game processing circuit drives a portion of interactivity associated with the game program. The portion of interactivity is generated based on the input.

Abstract: An example of a server receives first event data from an information processing apparatus. The server stores therein event management data including event state information that indicates whether a second event has already occurred or has not yet occurred. When receiving a request from the information processing apparatus, the server transmits at least one piece of second event data to the information processing apparatus. The at least one piece of second event data includes second event data based on event management data in which the event state information indicates that the second event has already occurred and/or second event data to be transmitted when the second event data stored in the first storage area is insufficient. Upon receiving the third event data indicating that the second event has occurred, the server updates the event state information so as to indicate that the second event has already occurred.

Abstract: One aspect of the disclosure relates to providing dynamic and static contest prize allocation based on in-game achievement of a user in an online game in order to encourage players to continue to purchase items to improve their tournament metrics even if they may be unable to improve their tournament rank. For example, calculation of a dynamic prize may comprise for rank x, the player may gain 1 prize unit for every y Glory gained (when Glory may be the measured by the tournament). The y value may increase for lower ranks achieved in the tournament.

Abstract: A gaming device for use with an interactive gaming system. The gaming device is carried by a gamer and provides a direct view of a destination part, where the destination is implementing the gaming system. The destination part may emit or reflect light comprising a combination of public images and video perceivable with the naked eye and private images and video only perceivable when looking through the gaming device. The device comprises front and back facing cameras for capturing images transmitted to the gaming system as game information, where the back facing camera is optionally adapted to filter the emitted or reflected light to reveal the private image. Further adaptations allow for the spatially aligned augmentation of the direct view with respect to a destination part. The gaming device is usable as a summoning device including providing movement directions to the gamer with respect to the destination parts.

A server computing device can receive one or more gaming location events related to one or more electronic gaming machines. Each of the electronic gaming machine(s) can be configured to play one or more wager games. At least one of the gaming location events can be associated with a particular wager game. The server computing device can determine one or more player journey actions based on the gaming location events, where the one or more player journey actions instruct at least one electronic gaming machine to perform one or more actions related to the gaming location events. The server computing device can send the gaming location events.

Based on the estimated gameplay skill level of the player, respective values of one or more gameplay parameters that determine on-screen behavior of virtual in-game objects are modified, thereby a gameplay difficulty level is modified.
