Abstract: A patient support apparatus comprises a substantially rigid support deck for supporting a patient support element, a first sensing element and a second sensing element arranged on the support deck and separated from one another in a direction along the width of the patient support apparatus. Each sensing element is configured to determine, in use, the force or pressure applied to it by the patient support element and a patient on the patient support element. One or more processors, coupled to the sensing elements, are configured to determine the location of the center of gravity of a patient on the patient support element, along the width of the patient support apparatus, based upon outputs of the first and second sensing elements. An alarm may be activated when the location of the center of gravity along the width of the patient support apparatus is outside a predetermined range of values.

Abstract: A mass transit surveillance system and corresponding method are provided. The mass transit surveillance system includes a camera configured to capture an input image of a subject purported to be a baby and presented at a mass transit environment. The mass transit surveillance system further includes a memory storing a deep learning model configured to perform a baby detection task for the mass transit environment. The mass transit surveillance system also includes a processor configured to apply the deep learning model to the input image to provide a baby detection result of either a presence or an absence of an actual baby in relation to the subject purported to be the baby. The baby detection task is configured to evaluate one or more different distractor modalities corresponding to one or more different physical spoofing materials to prevent baby spoofing for the baby detection task.

Abstract: A system and method for optimizing a rescue operation of an individual. The method comprises maintaining, by an individual engaged in an activity, an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) associated with and in proximity to the individual. For storage at the UAV, the individual records at a recording device a message. A sensor device is configured to detect a situation requiring a need to rescue the individual at a current location, and generates a trigger signal in response to a detection. In response to the receipt of the trigger signal, a current GPS location of the individual is recorded and a launching of the UAV to traverse a flight-path to a destination location. At or before arriving at the destination location, the UAV contemporaneously provides the stored recorded message and current GPS location of the individual to an emergency response authority to inform of the individual's situation and location.

Abstract: A patient care system is disclosed that includes a medical device such as an infusion pump. The medical device generates a data message containing information such as the status of the therapy being delivered, operating data or both. An alarm generating system assesses the data message from the pump and generates an alarm message if certain conditions established by a first set of rules are met. The alarm message is assessed according to a second set of rules as to whether to suppress the alarm message. The data message contains a required input for both the first and second algorithms. A dispatching system is adapted to forward the alarm message to an alarm destination according to a third set of rules. The alarm destination expresses an alarm upon receipt of the alarm message.

Abstract: A multilayer floor covering comprises a resilient top covering (12) for providing a walking surface, a sheet-type sensor layer (16) arranged underneath the resilient top covering, a first adhesive layer (14) attaching the resilient top covering to the sheet-type sensor layer and a second adhesive layer (18) for attaching the sheet-type sensor layer to an underlying subfloor (20). To facilitate access to the sheet-type sensor layer, the first adhesive layer (14) is configured to provide lower resistance to peeling than the second adhesive layer (18). The invention further proposes a kit of parts for achieving such a floor covering as well as a method for installing the floor covering.

Abstract: One embodiment of a monitoring system includes a sensing subsystem adapted to sense an external parameter within a region of interest relative to an occupant support or an occupant of the occupant support. The monitoring system also includes a processor. The processor is adapted to adapted to receive data representing the sensed external parameter and to execute machine readable instructions thereby causing the monitoring system to evaluate, based on the received data, a likelihood that the occupant will attempt an egress from the occupant support. The processor is also adapted to generate a notification of the likelihood of attempted egress.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method, and related system, for monitoring the wellbeing of an individual by providing eyewear that includes at least one sensor for monitoring the motion of the user. In various embodiments, the system receives data generated by the at least one sensor, uses the data to determine the user's movements using the received data, and compares the user's movements to previously established movement patterns of the user. If the system detects one or more inconsistencies between the user's current movements as compared to the previously established movement patterns of the user, the system may notify the user or a third party of the detected one or more inconsistencies. The system may similarly monitor a user's compliance with a medical regime and notify the user or a third party of the user's compliance with the regime.
