Abstract:
An intake pipe arrangement for internal combustions is provided which includes an intake manifold and intake pipes arranged symmetrically pairwise at opposite sides thereof. In order to reduce the mutual vibrational influence of the intake pipes, the intake pipes are connected at the intake manifold with the end segments of the intake pipes approaching the intake manifold extending diagonally with respect to one another so that their imaginary extensions intersect in the intake manifold.
Abstract:
An intake manifold for a four cylinder internal combustion engine having twin ducts and a twin choke carburettor in which one of the chokes is in communication with two of the cylinders and the other choke is in communication with the other two of the cylinders. The ducts are so arranged that in the normal firing order for the engine the first and third cylinders to fire are connected to one of the chokes and the second and fourth cylinders to fire are connected to the other of said chokes.
Abstract:
An air intake assembly configured to direct air into a throttle body of an engine of an automotive vehicle includes an air cleaner enclosure, primary and secondary air intake ducts and a downstream air intake duct. In a first operating condition, inlet air is directed into the air cleaner enclosure unit from the secondary air intake duct and routed (i) through the downstream air intake duct and into the throttle body and (ii) through the primary air intake duct and out of a primary air inlet. In a second operating condition, inlet air is directed into the air cleaner enclosure unit from the primary air intake duct and routed (iii) through the downstream air intake duct and into the throttle body and (iv) through the secondary air intake duct and out of the secondary air inlet. A method of directing the intake air into the throttle body is also provided.
Abstract:
An intercooler pipe that improves noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) performance is provided. The intercooler pipe includes a plurality of bellowses, wherein an exterior of the bellows is made of a soft material and an inside thereof is made of a hard material to make a storage modulus of the inside of the bellows greater than that of the exterior thereof. In addition, the intercooler pipe improves the durability of an intercooler pipe.
Abstract:
Output performance of the engine may be maximized by a configuration in which air is supplied so as to maximize volumetric efficiency of the respective cylinders in a multi-cylinder engine including a plurality of cylinders.
Abstract:
An intake manifold for an internal combustion engine having a housing having a uniformly thick, outwardly facing arch shaped elongated arm for mounting to a cylinder head of the internal combustion engine with an outer surface of the arm having an outwardly facing projection disposed along a portion of a length of the elongated arm. The projection is integrally formed with the arm. The projection is at, or proximate to, the apex of the arch of the arch shaped arm.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a device for distributing the incoming gases in an internal combustion air supply system. This system comprises a fresh air intake pipe (1) and an exhaust gas recirculation intake pipe (2) and the internal combustion engine comprises, for each cylinder, a cylinder head that forms a lid over it, at least one inlet gas intake valve (3, 4) and at least one exhaust valve (5) which are mounted in the cylinder head and, in the case of a multi-cylinder engine, a distributor (7) connecting at least the fresh air intake pipe (1) to the cylinders. In this device, the fresh air intake pipe (1) and the exhaust gas recirculation intake pipe (2) are connected to each of the cylinders independently of one another, each of them (1, 2) via an intake valve (3, 4) dedicated to it (1, 2).
Abstract:
A resonator for an air intake system of a motor vehicle has a housing and at least one resonator chamber enclosed by the housing. At least one air intake opening for fresh air is provided in the housing and opens into the resonator chamber. At least one air exhaust opening for fresh air is provided in the housing and opens into the resonator chamber. The at least one air exhaust opening is also an intake opening of an auxiliary device, especially an air compressor.
Abstract:
An intake system of a V-engine provided with a surge tank arranged at a position higher than a cylinder head and divided in internal space into a top part and a bottom part. The surge tank has a plurality of intake tubes communicating the surge tank and intake ports, wherein intake tubes communicated with one cylinder bank of the V-engine are connected to the top part of the surge tank and intake tubes communicated with the other cylinder bank are connected to the bottom part of the surge tank. The surge tank is formed so that a front end of the top part is positioned further toward a rear side of the vehicle compared with the front end of the bottom part when the intake system is mounted to a V-engine mounted in the vehicle, whereby the height of the engine hood can be effectively lowered.
