The apparatus includes a first opening that feeds into this chamber, through which the user draws contaminated water into the chamber, and a second opening for removing purified water from the chamber. Purification of the contaminated water drawn into the apparatus is effected by water purification media, which may include an ultrafiltration membrane; a halogenated resin; and granulated, activated carbon. The apparatus may also include one or more cleanable, removable, replaceable cartridges for containing the water purification media.

摘要: The present invention is directed to affinity chromatography devices that separate a targeted protein or antibody from an aqueous mixture containing the targeted protein or antibody. The chromatography device may contain a stacked membrane assembly or a wound membrane assembly. The membrane assemblies include (1) at least one polymer membrane that contains therein inorganic particles and (2) at least one impermeable layer (e.g., a thermoplastic polymer in a solid state). The polymer membrane and/or the inorganic particles have an affinity ligand bonded thereto. The affinity ligand may be a protein, an antibody, or a polysaccharide that reversibly binds to the targeted protein or antibody. The chromatography device may be repeatedly used and may be cleaned with a caustic solution between uses. The chromatography devices has a dynamic binding capacity (DBC) of at least 30 mg/ml (or 0.07 micromol/ml) at 10% breakthrough at a residence time of 20 seconds or less.

摘要: A gas separation membrane module includes hollow polymeric fibers held within a casing, the fibers being anchored by tubesheets at the ends of the casing. A filter material, preferably made of an activated carbon fiber fabric, is integral with the module, such that all gas entering the module must pass first through the filter before reaching the fibers. The filter may have the form of a circular pad affixed to one of the tubesheets. Alternatively, the filter could be a wrap disposed around the fibers, inside the casing. In another alternative, the filter could be provided within a core tube, in cases where a feed gas is introduced through the core of the module. In another embodiment, the filter could be provided in a separate unit from the gas separation module.
