The present invention provides a method of transmitting broadcast signals. The method includes, demultiplexing input streams into plural PLPs (Physical Layer Pipes); encoding data of the each PLPs according to each physical layer profiles, wherein the physical layer profiles are configurations based on reception condition, wherein the each physical layer profiles include: LDPC (Low Density Parity Check) encoding the data of the PLP, bit interleaving the LDPC encoded data of the PLP; building plural signal frames by mapping the encoded data of the each PLPs, wherein each signal frame belongs to one of the physical layer profiles, wherein a super frame includes at least two built signal frames; and modulating data in the built plural signal frames by OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) method and transmitting the broadcast signals having the modulated data,

A method of transmitting a broadcast signal includes encoding data which is carried by Data Pipes (DPS); mapping the encoded data to constellations; interleaving the mapped data by skipping virtual cells based on a memory address for the interleaving; building at least one signal frame having symbols including the interleaved data; frequency interleaving cells of the symbols in the at least one signal frame; modulating the at least one signal frame including the frequency interleaved cells of the symbols by an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) scheme; and transmitting the broadcast signal including the modulated at least one signal frame.

A broadcast signal transmitting device according to one embodiment of the present invention comprises: an encoder for forward error correction (FEC) encoding data pipe (DP) data transmitted via multiple DPs, wherein each DP transmits at least one service or at least one service component; a signaling encoder for encoding signaling data; an interleaver for interleaving the encoded DP data; a frame builder for mapping the interleaved DP data and the encoded signaling data and then generating at least one signal frame, wherein the interleaved DP data is mapped according to the type of the DPs transmitting the respective DP data, and wherein the encoded signaling data includes type information indicative of the type of each DP; a modulation unit for modulating the at least one generated signal frame in an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) scheme; and a transmitter for transmitting a broadcast signal including the at least one modulated signal frame.

An apparatus for transmitting a broadcast signal includes an input formatting module configured to de-multiplex an input stream into at least one Data Pipe (DP); a BICM module configured to perform error correction processing on data of the at least one DP; a signal frame building module configured to map the data of the DP to symbols within a signal frame; and an OFDM generation module configured to generate a transmission broadcast signal by inserting a preamble into the signal frame and performing OFDM modulation. The OFDM generation module includes a pilot signal insertion module configured to insert a pilot signal including Continual Pilots (CP) and Scattered Pilots (SP) into the transmission broadcast signal, and the CPs are inserted into every symbol of the signal frame, and location and number of the CPs are determined based on a Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) size.
