Method and extrusion die (1030) for producing a three-dimensional polymeric strand netting, wherein a plurality of the polymeric strands (1070a, 1070b, 1070c) are periodically joined together in a regular pattern at bond regions throughout the array, wherein a majority of the polymeric strands (1070a, 1070b, 1070c) are periodically bonded to at least two (three, four, five, six, or more) adjacent polymeric strands, and wherein no polymeric strands are continuously bonded to a polymeric strand. Three-dimensional polymeric strand netting described herein have a variety of uses, including wound care, tapes, filtration, absorbent articles, pest control articles, geotextile applications, water/vapor management in clothing, reinforcement for nonwoven articles, self bulking articles, floor coverings, grip supports, athletic articles, and pattern coated adhesives.

A polygonal cluster includes a plurality of substantially parallel polymeric columns disposed inside an outermost polygonal perimeter of the polygonal cluster and extending along a thickness direction between opposing first and second major surfaces of the polygonal cluster; and a common first material substantially filling regions within the polygonal perimeter between the polymeric columns and across the thickness of the polygonal cluster, such that in a cross-section of the polygonal cluster in a plane substantially orthogonal to the thickness of the cluster, for at least each of a plurality of first polymeric columns in the plurality of polymeric columns disposed adjacent the perimeter of the cluster, the first polymeric column has a pear shape having a wider portion facing the perimeter and a narrower portion facing away from the perimeter.

Articles (100, 200, 300) comprising first (101, 201, 301) and second layers (102, 202, 302) each having first and second opposed major surfaces and between the first and second layers a series of first walls (110, 210, 310) having aspect ratios between 1.5 and 5 providing a series of microchannels, and methods for making the same. Embodiment of coextruded articles described herein are useful, for example, in cushioning applications where high levels of compression are desired.

An incrementally activated laminate that includes an incrementally activated fibrous web and a film having alternating first and second regions and a laminate of the film and an extensible fibrous web. The first region of the film includes a first polymeric composition, and the second regions include an elastic polymeric composition that is more elastic than the first polymeric composition. In the incrementally activated laminate, the distance between midpoints of two first regions separated by one second region is smaller than the activation pitch, and the first regions are not plastically deformed. In the extensible laminate, a tensile elongation at maximum load of the film is up to 250 percent of the tensile elongation at maximum load of the extensible fibrous web. Methods of making the laminates are also described.

Abstract:
A film having first and second segments alternating across the film's width direction. The second segments are more elastic than the first segments, and a force required to stretch the second segments is less than a force required to stretch the first segments. At least some of the first segments have apertures through their thicknesses, and a percentage of area of the first segments occupied by the apertures is greater than a percentage of area occupied by any apertures that may extend through the second segments. Laminates and absorbent articles including such films are also disclosed. A method of making the film is also described.
