Abstract: A dual chamber syringe facilitates selective drug mixing, dosing, and administration, as well as pre- or post-administration flushing with a single syringe instrument. A syringe barrel incorporates an outlet, as well as variable-volume, primary and secondary fluid chambers, separated by a floating stopper. The floating stopper defines a dome-shaped split septum with a central slit at its apex. The split septum is a bi-stable valve, closing the central slit by compression in its meridial dimension when the septum is in a first, relaxed state, and opening the central slit when the septum is buckled or flipped under tension in the meridial dimension in a second state. Buckling of the septum wall is caused solely by differential fluid pressure applied by a single plunger, without physical contact of the septum with any other structure within the syringe.

Abstract: A biological fluid sampling transfer device adapted to receive a multi-component blood sample is disclosed. After collecting the blood sample, the biological fluid sampling transfer device is able to separate a plasma portion from a cellular portion. After separation, the biological fluid sampling transfer device is able to transfer the plasma portion of the blood sample to a point-of-care testing device. The biological fluid sampling transfer device also provides a closed sampling and transfer system that reduces the exposure of a blood sample and provides fast mixing of a blood sample with a sample stabilizer. The biological fluid sampling transfer device is engageable with a blood testing device for closed transfer of a portion of the plasma portion from the biological fluid sampling transfer device to the blood testing device. The blood testing device is adapted to receive the plasma portion to analyze the blood sample and obtain test results.

Abstract: An integrated disinfection device is described syringe assembly having two integrated disinfection units assembled to a syringe for disinfecting and sterilizing corresponding medical connectors, specifically access ports of corresponding medical connectors. The second cup and the syringe assembly are interlocked through interference fit or snap fit of the thumb press of the syringe and ledge of the second cup.

Abstract: A connector to secure a winged needle set to a catheter assembly may include a male luer lock. The male luer lock may include a tapered male discharge nozzle and a locking ring surrounding the tapered male discharge nozzle. The locking ring may be internally threaded. The connector may include a septum configured to prevent flow through the tapered male discharge nozzle. The connector may include an arm, which may include a first end, a second end, and a hinge portion disposed between the first end and the second end. The first end may be coupled to the male luer lock. In response to the hinge portion moving from an open position to a closed position, the arm may be configured to secure the winged needle set to the connector.
