    Abstract: A dual chamber syringe facilitates selective drug mixing, dosing, and administration, as well as pre- or post-administration flushing with a single syringe instrument. A syringe barrel incorporates an outlet, as well as variable-volume, primary and secondary fluid chambers, separated by a floating stopper. The floating stopper defines a dome-shaped split septum with a central slit at its apex. The split septum is a bi-stable valve, closing the central slit by compression in its meridial dimension when the septum is in a first, relaxed state, and opening the central slit when the septum is buckled or flipped under tension in the meridial dimension in a second state. Buckling of the septum wall is caused solely by differential fluid pressure applied by a single plunger, without physical contact of the septum with any other structure within the syringe.

    Abstract: A cap configured to engage different types of female connectors includes a housing having a closed bottom, an open top, and a sidewall extending between the top and the bottom with threads on an inner surface of the sidewall. The cap also includes a sleeve disposed in the housing with threads engaged to the threads of the housing configured to rotate relative to the housing, thereby moving the sleeve through the housing, and a gripper disposed at least partially in the sleeve having at least one flexible leg pressed radially inward by the sleeve as the sleeve moves through the housing. The cap also includes an absorbent support disposed in the gripper configured to clean and/or disinfect portions of the female connector.

    Abstract: An integrated disinfection device is described syringe assembly having two integrated disinfection units assembled to a syringe for disinfecting and sterilizing corresponding medical connectors, specifically access ports of corresponding medical connectors. The integrated disinfection unit includes a first cup and a second cup. The first cup having a chamber containing a first absorbent material, a first disinfectant or an antimicrobial agent in the first cup, and a first peelable seal. The second cup having a chamber containing a second absorbent material, a second disinfectant or an antimicrobial agent in the second cup, and a second peelable seal. A threaded connection is disposed on the bottom exterior surface of the first cup having threads that are sized and pitched to engage threads of a luer lock collar on the distal end of the syringe barrel to allow the first cup to be connected to the syringe assembly. The second cup and the syringe assembly are interlocked through interference fit or snap fit of the thumb press of the syringe and ledge of the second cup.
