A high quality lubricant for compressors operated during at least part of their compression cycle at temperatures above normal human comfort temperatures, such as most automotive air conditioners, especially those using chlorine free hydro-fluorocarbon refrigerant working fluids, is provided by mixed esters of hindered polyols, most desirably pentaerythritol, with a mixture of carboxylic acids including at least some iso-pentanoic acid along with one or more of iso-nonanoic acid, isooctanoic acid, and dibasic acids such as adipic. When the mixture includes about 7% adipic and amounts of branched C8-9 and C5 monobasic acids in a ratio of at least 0.75:1.00, the esters formed have excellent solubility for paraffinic and naphthenic mineral oils and are therefore especially well suited for lubricating vehicle air conditioners formerly containing chlorine containing heat transfer fluids and mineral oil lubricants.

A refrigeration circuit 1 is filled with a working fluid composed of an HFC-base refrigerant containing 50 wt % or more R32 and a mixed refrigerating machine oil. The mixed refrigerating machine oil is made up of a synthetic oil such as an ether oil and an ester oil, and an alkylbenzene-base oil, and the alkylbenzene-base oil accounts for 1 to 90 wt % of the mixed refrigerating machine oil.

Hydrofluorocarbon refrigerants are not soluble in hydrocarbon oil. Retrofitting refrigeration equipment with hydrofluorocarbons generally entails the use of expensive polyol ester (POE) lubricants. The invention provides hydrofluorocarbon refrigerant compositions that are soluble in hydrocarbon oil thus allowing for a simpler and less expensive retrofit option to the refrigerant user.

A lubricant blend for use on a wire exposed to an HFC refrigerant. The lubricant blend includes an organic phase and an aqueous phase. The organic phase includes a lubricant which has a defined solubility in the HFC refrigerant and a lubricity suitable for application to the wire. The organic phase also includes a solvent in which the lubricant is soluble and, optionally, a hydrophobic surfactant. The aqueous phase includes a surfactant which forms an emulsion between the organic phase and the aqueous phase, which has a defined solubility in a non-CFC containing refrigerant. A magnetic wire lubricant, method of making the lubricant blend, and compressor using the lubricant blend are also described.

The present invention provides a highly reliable liquid bearing unit which can, by securely repelling a lubricant by an oil repelling film, prevent the lubricant from leaking and a magnetic disk device mounted therewith. In a case where the lubricant contains a constituent of at least one of a hydrocarbon-based oil and an ester-based oil and the oil repellent film is a film of at least one of a fluorine base and a silicone base, surface tension of the lubricant is made greater than the critical surface tension of the oil repellent film by 5 mN/m or more. Moreover, when the lubricant is a fluorine-based lubricant, surface tension of the lubricant is made greater than the critical surface tension of the oil repellent film by 8 mN/m or more.

Rolling bearings are proposed in which acoustic deterioration is suppressed which maintaining low dust, low torque and long life. Also, a grease for rolling bearings is proposed which is less likely to scatter under centrifugal force at high speed rotation, whereby preventing malfunction and noise of electronic information devices. A lubricating oil film of an ester-series oil having a dynamic viscosity at 40° C. of 35 mm2/s or over is formed on the friction surface of a rolling bearing. There is also provided a high-speed rolling bearing in which a lubricating grease having its worked penetration (JIS K2220) adjusted to 175-250 is retained therein. The grease is preferably prepared by adding a thickening agent containing 50 wt % or more of an aliphatic lithium salt 12-24 in carbon number to a base oil comprising 30 wt % or more of an ester oil having a dynamic viscosity at 40° C. of 10 mm2/s or over, and having its worked penetration (JIS K2220) adjusted to 175-250.
