摘要: High-frame-rate stereoscopic projection using a single digital projector provides a powerful sense of immersion when shown on wide screens, and the human eye perceives each frame as unique and separate from the others by virtue of the natural left-right “shuttering” that occurs via the chosen 3D projection technology. Techniques are provided for the introduction of one or more consecutive “digital dark frames” into the image streams presented to the dual projectors in such a manner that the sequence of out-of-phase photography is replicated via out-of-phase projection. This is achieved by alternately introducing the dark frames so that the sequence of stereoscopic images is presented in proper temporal continuity.

The projection system includes a port window for transmitting projected image light from the projection lens. The port window has a surface for redirecting a portion of the projected image light as result of being scattered or reflected away from the image light path. The projection system includes an enclosure positioned between the port window and the projection lens to surround the image light path between the port window and the projection lens. The enclosure absorbs the portion of the image light redirected by the projection lens and absorbs the portion of the projected image light redirected by the surface.

摘要: A 3D projection method and a 3D projection device are provided. The method includes: obtaining a first eye image and a second eye image, and forming a fusion image accordingly, wherein the fusion image includes multiple pixel groups, and each pixel group includes a first pixel, a second pixel, a third pixel and a fourth pixel; respectively generating a first projection image, a second projection image, a third projection image, and a fourth projection image based on the first, second, third, and fourth pixel of the pixel groups; and sequentially projecting the first, second, third and fourth projection images. The first and third projection images correspond to the first eye image, the second and fourth projection images correspond to the second eye image, and the first and second eye images are respectively one and another of the left and right eye image.

摘要: Examples are disclosed that relate to calibration of a stereoscopic display system of an HMD via an optical calibration system comprising a waveguide combiner. One example provides an HMD device comprising a first image projector and a second image projector configured to project a stereoscopic image pair, and an optical calibration system. The optical calibration system comprises a first optical path indicative of an alignment of the first image projector, a second optical path indicative of an alignment of the second image projector, a waveguide combiner in which the first and second optical paths combine into a shared optical path, and one or more boresight sensors configured to detect calibration image light traveling along one or more of the first optical or the second optical path.

The image display control method includes: determining a displacement sequence of a displacement apparatus (220) and a source image display sequence (610) of an image source apparatus (230), based on a virtual scene display depth range; controlling the displacement apparatus (220) to move, according to the displacement sequence, the image source apparatus (230) to corresponding target positions (620); and after the image source apparatus (230) reaches each of the target positions, controlling, according to the source image display sequence, the image source apparatus (230) to perform source image projection, so as to display a clear virtual image of a source image, corresponding to the target position, in the source image display sequence (630). By using the method, dynamic display of virtual images on virtual scene depth planes can be achieved.

摘要: A near-eye display device comprises right and left display projectors, expansion optics, and inertial measurement units (IMUs), in addition to a plurality of angle-sensitive pixel (ASP) elements and a computer. The right and left expansion optics are configured to receive respective display images from the right and left display projectors and to release expanded forms of the display images. The right IMU is fixedly coupled to the right display projector, and the left IMU is fixedly coupled to the left display projector. Each ASP element is responsive to an angle of light of one of the respective display images as received into the right or left expansion optic. The computer is configured to receive output from the right IMU, the left IMU and the plurality of ASP elements, and render display data for the right and left display projectors based in part on the output.

摘要: Light from an array of laser light sources are spread to cover the modulating face of a DMD or other modulator. The spread may be performed, for example, by a varying curvature array of lenslets, each laser light directed at one of the lenslets. Light from neighboring and/or nearby light sources overlap at a modulator. The lasers are energized at different energy/brightness levels causing the light illuminating the modulator to itself be modulated (locally dimmed). The modulator then further modulates the locally dimmed lights to produce a desired image. A projector according to the invention may utilize, for example, a single modulator sequentially illuminated or separate primary color modulators simultaneously illuminated.
