    摘要: An apparatus for in-line holographic imaging is disclosed. In one aspect, the apparatus includes at least a first light source and a second light source arranged for illuminating an object arranged in the apparatus with a light beam. The apparatus also includes an image sensor arranged to detect at least a first and a second interference pattern, wherein the first interference pattern is formed when the object is illuminated by the first light source and the second interference pattern is formed when the object is illuminated by the second light source. The first and second interference patterns are formed by diffracted light, being scattered by the object, and undiffracted light of the light beam. The at least first and second light sources are arranged at different angles in relation to the object, and possibly illuminate the object using different wavelengths.

    摘要: A holographic display method includes calculating a hologram, displaying it on a spatial light modulator (SLM) and illuminating it with coherent light. The hologram includes hologram pixels each having a hologram pixel value. The hologram is calculated using steps including: performing the inverse Fourier transform of the product of an object field and a negative quadratic phase exponential representative of positive optical power; and restricting each calculated hologram pixel value to one of a plurality (greater than two) of allowable pixel values to form a constrained hologram, which is displayed on the SLM. Each light-modulating pixel of the SLM is operable in a plurality of light-modulation levels corresponding to the plurality of allowable pixel values. The SLM is illuminated with coherent light to form a replay field including conjugate images: a real holographic reconstruction and a virtual holographic reconstruction having greater intensity than that of the real holographic reconstruction.

    摘要: There is provided a spatial light modulator arranged to display a light modulation pattern comprising a hologram. The spatial light modulator comprises a liquid crystal on silicon spatial light modulator having a plurality of pixels. The hologram has a plurality of pixels. The spatial light modulator comprises a silicon backplane. Each pixel of the spatial light modulator comprises a light-modulating element and a respective pixel circuit. Each pixel circuit is embedded in the silicon backplane. Each pixel circuit is arranged to drive the corresponding light-modulating element. Each pixel circuit is further arranged to combine a received pixel value of the hologram with a corresponding pixel value of the light processing function such that the light modulation pattern further comprises the light processing function. The light processing function comprises a lens function and/or a grating function.

    摘要: A display method lets a display beam to propagate in a transparent substrate while internally reflected repeatedly and lets the display beam partly emit out of the transparent substrate every time the display beam is internally reflected, thereby emitting display beams from almost entirety of a surface of the transparent substrate. The display beam is produced holographically. A display apparatus includes a spatial phase modulator that produces a display beam, a transparent substrate in which the display beam is internally reflected repeatedly to propagate in it, and a splitter that lets the display beam partly emit out of the transparent substrate every time the display beam is internally reflected.

    摘要: A head-mounted display device comprises a rendering engine configured to generate a hologram representative of a three-dimensional object. The hologram includes depth information that causes the three-dimensional object to be rendered with a focus that is determined by the depth information. The device also includes a spatial light modulator that modulates light from a light source as indicated by the hologram. A switchable hologram comprises multiple stacked switchable gratings. Each of the stacked switchable gratings is associated with one or more resulting exit pupil locations on a viewing surface. The system also comprises an eye tracker configured to map a viewing direction of a user's eye to a viewing location on the viewing surface. A processor is configured to activate a particular switchable grating within the switchable transmission hologram that is associated with an exit pupil location that aligns with the viewing location.
