Abstract: Message faults are expected to be a major impediment to 5G and future 6G throughput. The disclosed procedures enable a wireless receiver to recover many types of message faults based on the demodulation quality of each message element, among other diagnostic tests, and then to recover the correct message either by calculation (based on an embedded error-detection code) or by substitution (based on a search of all other modulation states in place of the faulted message elements). The method also includes determining, according to the modulation quality, when there are too many faults to efficiently mitigate, in which case a retransmission of just the affected portion is requested. The receiver can then merge the two versions of the message, selecting the better-quality message element at each position, and thereby correct the faulted message versions.

Abstract: Systems and methods for transporting data between two endpoints over an encoded channel are disclosed. Data transmission units (data units) from the source network are received at an encoding component logically located between the endpoints. These first data units are subdivided into second data units and are transmitted to the destination network over the transport network. Also transmitted are encoded or extra second data units that allow the original first data units to be recreated even if some of the second data units are lost. These encoded second data units may be merely copies of the second data units transmitted, parity second data units, or second data units which have been encoded using erasure correcting coding. At the receiving endpoint, the second data units are received and are used to recreate the original first data units.

The TE1 receives an acknowledgment frame Ack1 in the first protocol format from the RE1. The TE1 constructs an acknowledgment packet Ack2 in the second protocol format based on the Ack1, and sends it to the TE2.

Abstract: A communications system, a method of operating a communications system, and a method of operating a communications device are provided. The communications system includes a transmitter configured to transmit a data packet to a receiver; and the receiver configured to receive the data packet from the transmitter, wherein the receiver is configured to receive at least one first packet from the transmitter, determine whether there is a first failed packet having an error from among the at least one first packet, transmit a first status report requesting retransmission of the first failed packet, and transmit a second status report requesting retransmission of the first failed packet within a previously determined status report processing period from transmission of the first status report, wherein the first status report comprises first time information corresponding to a transmission time of the first status report from the receiver to the transmitter, and the second status report comprises second time information corresponding to a transmission time of the second status report from the receiver to the transmitter.

Abstract: A faulted message element in 5G or 6G can often be identified according to its modulation parameters, including a large deviation of the branch amplitudes from the predetermined amplitude levels of the modulation scheme, and/or the SNR of the branch amplitudes, and/or an amplitude variation of the raw signal or the branches during the message element, and/or an inconsistency between the modulation state as determined by the amplitude and phase of the raw waveform versus the amplitudes of the orthogonal branch signals, among other measures of modulation quality. An AI model may be necessary to correlate the various quality measures, and optionally to determine the correct demodulation of faulted message elements. Costly, time-consuming retransmissions may be avoided by determining the correct demodulation of each message element at the receiver, thereby improving throughput and reliability with fewer delays.
