Abstract: Disclosed in a mechanism for optimizing channel quality indicator feedback for code block group based transmissions, wherein a user equipment of a communication network receives an enhanced channel quality indicator configuration. Based on the enhanced channel quality indicator configuration, the user equipment performs measurements of channel state information reference resources with a plurality of code block groups comprising determining a highest data rate modulation and coding scheme index supported by the user equipment with an error probability that will not exceed a predetermined threshold for reception of at least one transport block from the communication network, and based on the performing, the user equipment sends, towards the communication network, information expressed with a channel quality index comprising an indication of the determined highest data rate modulation and coding scheme index for use with link adaption for improving spectral efficiency of radio resource allocations of at least one transport block with more than one code block group for at least one physical downlink shared channel transmission from the communication network, wherein the information expressed with the channel quality index comprises an enhanced channel quality indicator report that identifies a new enhanced channel quality indicator report table enumerating the highest data rate modulation and coding scheme index supported by the user equipment and an effective code rate that the communication network is directed to use for the at least one physical downlink shared channel transmission.

Abstract: According to an example aspect of the present invention, there is provided a method comprising: buffering a first radio link control, RLC, data unit of a radio bearer for transmission to a receiving device, starting a retransmission timer responsive to providing the first RLC data unit for transmission to the receiving device, and retransmitting the buffered first RLC data unit in response to a request for a second RLC data unit of the radio bearer before expiry of the retransmission timer, wherein the second RLC data unit is to be transmitted to the receiving device after the first RLC data unit.
