Abstract: A sensor includes a mount arranged along a sensor axis, an airfoil body fixed to the mount and having a first face and second face extending along the sensor axis, a heater element, and a temperature probe. The heater element and the temperature probe are positioned within the airfoil body and extend axially along the airfoil body. The airfoil body defines within its interior a pressure channel having an inlet segment extending between the heater element and the first face of the airfoil body to prevent ice formation and/or melt ice entrained within air traversing the pressure channel. Gas turbine engines, methods of removing ice or preventing ice formation, and methods of making sensors are also described.

Abstract: A device for current determination includes a shunt and a device for temperature measurement including a printed circuit board, an evaluation unit and a temperature sensor. The printed circuit board has a milled groove which runs spirally around the temperature sensor, so that the temperature sensor is arranged on a printed circuit board plateau defined by the milled groove and is displaceable in a direction that is parallel to a normal vector of a plane defined by the printed circuit board. When the temperature sensor is displaced relative to the plane of the printed circuit board, a restoring force is brought about between the printed circuit board and the temperature sensor, wherein the shunt includes a resistance region having a substantially flat surface, wherein the device for current determination is arranged in the resistance region on the surface of the shunt in such a way that the temperature sensor is arranged in thermal connection with the resistance region of the shunt, wherein voltage taps are arranged on both sides of the temperature sensor and electrically contact the surface of the shunt in order to detect a potential difference along the resistance region.

Abstract: A non-invasive thermal dispersion flow meter with chronometric monitor for fluid leak detection includes a heater, an ambient temperature sensor and a flow rate sensor which are configured to sense the temperature of a fluid in a conduit, and then monitor the flow of that fluid through the conduit. The fluid flow sensor is incorporated into a Wheatstone bridge circuit, which is used to provide increased sensitivity to the outputs of the sensors, Based upon the ambient temperature sensor readings, the flow rate sensor and heater may be adjusted to optimize the operation of the system to detect leaks. An alternative embodiment utilizes a single sensor and separate heater which work together to determine heat propagation times which in turn is used to calculate flow rate. Based on the sensor readings, the flow may be adjusted to prevent damage and leaks by relieving the system of excess pressure.

Abstract: A sea-surface temperature lowering apparatus effectively lowers the temperature of seawater near a sea surface to allow low-temperature deep seawater pumped to around the sea surface to stay close to the sea surface without sinking immediately. The sea-surface temperature lowering apparatus includes a pump that pumps deep seawater. The pumped deep seawater and surface water are agitated to generate agitated water. The sea-surface temperature lowering apparatus includes a platform including the pump and an agitation device. The deep seawater with a low temperature and the surface water with a high temperature are mixed to generate the agitated water. This lowers the temperature of seawater near the sea surface without the deep seawater sinking immediately.

Abstract: An ultrasonic flowmeter includes: a flow path body having a flow path through which a fluid to be measured flows; a pair of ultrasonic transducers disposed in the flow path body; a substrate fixed to the flow path body; a sensor plate on which a temperature sensor for detecting a temperature of the fluid to be measured is disposed, the sensor plate being flat; and an arithmetic unit that calculates a flow rate of the fluid to be measured from a propagation time of ultrasonic waves between the pair of ultrasonic transducers and the temperature detected by the temperature sensor. The sensor plate is configured to project from the substrate and to project into a flow path cross-section of the flow path from a sensor hole provided in the flow path body at a time of fixing the substrate to the flow path body.

Abstract: A charging system includes a charging controller and an estimated completion time deriver. The charging controller adjusts a temperature of an on-board battery with a heater so that the temperature of the battery is kept equal to or higher than a predetermined temperature. The battery is chargeable with electric power supplied from a power supply outside a vehicle. The charging controller charges the battery with charging power excluding temperature adjustment power consumed by the heater from permitted suppliable power supplied from the power supply to the vehicle. The estimated completion time deriver derives an estimated completion time based on an estimated value of the permitted suppliable power in a future and an estimated value of the temperature adjustment power that is derived based on an estimated value of an outside air temperature in the future. The estimated completion time is a time when charging is predicted to complete.

Abstract: The present disclosure includes an HVAC system that includes a plurality of dampers each corresponding to one building zone of a plurality of building zones, a plurality of sensors each corresponding to the one of the plurality of building zones, and a control board communicatively coupled with the plurality of dampers and sensors. The control board includes a plurality of status light sources, each corresponding to one damper the plurality of dampers, a plurality of communication light sources each corresponding to one sensor of the plurality of sensors, and a microcontroller programmed to control operation of equipment in the HVAC system. The microcontroller is configured to perform “a hardware test mode” to facilitate diagnosis of the plurality of dampers by causing the plurality of status light sources to sequentially execute a first light scheme or a second light scheme in response to instructions to the plurality of dampers.
