摘要: Methods of determining if it is safe to restore service to a gas meter remotely are provided. The method includes determining if any pre-existing conditions are present in the gas meter responsive to issuance of a restore command to restore service from a remote location. The pre-existing conditions indicates that safety test results are unreliable. If it is determined that no pre-existing conditions are present, a valve on the gas meter is opened to fill the gas meter with gas until the gas meter reaches a predefined fill state. It is determined if pressure in the gas meter is stable at the predefined fill state and the valve on the gas meter is closed if the pressure is stabilized. A pressure decay test is performed after the valve on the gas meter is closed. The valve to restore gas flow is opened if the pressure decay test passes.

摘要: A corrosion monitoring device for pipe systems according to one aspect of the present disclosure includes a pipe having a first pipe portion and a second pipe portion. The first pipe portion includes a wall having a first wall thickness, and the second pipe portion includes a wall having a second wall thickness that is greater than the first wall thickness. The corrosion monitoring device further includes a structure coupled to the pipe and defining a sealed chamber between the structure and at least the first pipe portion, and a sensor for sensing a pressure in the sealed chamber or for sensing a liquid in the sealed chamber. Example corrosion monitoring devices and methods for monitoring corrosion in pipe systems are also disclosed.

摘要: A pressure reducer includes a housing, defining upstream and downstream pressure chambers. A valve is positioned in the housing and includes a diaphragm acting on a valve tappet. The valve includes a valve body fastened to the valve tappet and cooperating with a sealing element. The valve body has a cylindrical, hollow-cylindrical, or conical contour and forms a sealing surface effective in the radial direction. At least one upstream (102) or downstream (104) connector permits fluid contact to a respective upstream isolation valve (2) or a downstream isolation valve (4). A summation technique enables detection and quantification of a small leakage (20, 40) through either isolation valve (2, 4) during testing or certification of the valve (3). A portable computer (110) runs a controller (120) for automatic testing or certification. The controller (120) supports branching into separate diagnostic routines depending on measurements from sensors (122, 124). A security system (130) ensures reliable and confidential measurement data, and facilitates certification. Areas of use include chemical factories, offshore platforms for producing hydrocarbons and treatment plants aboard ships.

摘要: Systems and methods are provided for automatically actuating preexisting water shut-off valves upon detection of leak conditions. A coupling of a valve actuator is connected to a handle of the valve, such that a motor of the valve actuator causes the selective opening and closing of the valve. A controller obtains water flow data from a non-intrusive flow sensor (e.g., an ultrasonic sensor) clamped onto a pipe attached to the valve in close proximity thereto, as well as obtaining additional sensor data from remote sensors disposed elsewhere in the water supply system (e.g., pressure levels measured by an in-line pressure sensor). When the controller determines a leak condition exists based upon the water flow data and the additional sensor data, it controls the actuator to close the valve. The controller may also test for leaks by periodically shutting the valve and measuring the pressure while the valve is shut.

摘要: Disclosed are systems and methods for pressure testing coiled tubing (CT) in a well. A CT pressure testing device may include a CT connector for attaching to a CT segment and a pressure test housing defining a pressure chamber. A rod may extend through a top opening of the pressure test housing and through the CT connector to the severed end of the CT segment. A sealing plug coupled to a bottom end of the rod may create an interface between the CT connector and the CT segment. A force activator may apply a force to a top end of the rod, causing the rod to push the sealing plug into the CT segment and tighten the interface. A pump may pressurize the pressure chamber to perform a pressure test on the sealing plug. Accordingly, the CT pressure testing device may establish a well control barrier for the well.

Following the safety check, the system may verify a digital connection between a remote control system and the piping system, and verify a mechanical connection between a pressure source and the piping system. The system may remotely control the disbursement of fluid from the pressure source into the piping system to apply pressure to the piping system. The system may remotely monitor the pressure applied to the piping system, and may determine that a target pressure to a piping system is reached. Responsive to determining that the target pressure is reached, the system may cause a leak check to be performed.
