    摘要: An apparatus and method are provided for a fuel bowl to supply liquid fuel to a carburetor. The fuel bowl comprises a float chamber and a fuel inlet cavity which receives a fuel delivery insert. The fuel delivery insert receives a fuel inlet valve and comprises passages to direct incoming fuel to a bottom portion of the float chamber. A float comprises an elongate member rotatably hinged within a float cavity of the fuel delivery insert, such that the float rises according to a quantity of fuel within the float chamber. The fuel inlet valve supplies liquid fuel to the float chamber by way of the passages according to the operation of the float within the float chamber. A ventilation chamber allows air and fuel vapors to exit as liquid fuel enters the float chamber while preventing liquid fuel from entering into the carburetor.

    摘要: A carburetor 9 for feeding separate lean and rich channels 12, 13 of an engine intake duct 14 comprises a body 20 having a mixing passage 22 with an air intake side 24 and an engine outlet side 26. A throttle shutter 16 is rotatable about an axis transverse the mixing passage, and a partition 10 is located within the mixing passage upstream of the throttle shutter. The downstream edge of the partition 10 is adjacent the throttle shutter axis 16A whereby in use of the carburetor the partition defines an extension of the lean and rich channels upstream of the throttle shutter, the partition thus providing substantial isolation between the lean and rich channels for all rotational positions of the throttle shutter. In a preferred embodiment a choke shutter 17 is located upstream of the throttle shutter and is rotatable about a further axis 17 A transverse the mixing passage, the upstream edge of the partition being adjacent to the axis of the choke shutter.

    摘要: A forced air induction system (10) constructed in accordance with the principles of a preferred embodiment of the present invention and configured for supplying compressed induction fluid to an internal combustion engine (E) for powering a vehicle (V) is disclosed. The illustrated forced air induction system (10) broadly includes a blower (12) for compressing induction fluid for the engine (E) and an improved carburetor hat (14) in communication with the blower (12) for delivering the compressed induction fluid to the carburetor (C). The illustrated blower (12) is a centrifugal supercharger. The illustrated carburetor hat (14) defines a neck section (26), a throat section (28), and an internal chamber (30) disposed between the neck and throat sections (26,28). The improved carburetor hat (14) is configured to prevent, or at least greatly reduce, the occurrence of thrust and stack up of induction fluid within the chamber (30) and in this regard includes an air-diffuser vane (36) disposed within the chamber (30) so that induction fluid flowing from the inlet (32) must travel around the vane (36) to reach the outlet (34).

    摘要: The disclosure relates to a process and apparatus for effecting carburetion to provide an air and vaporized fuel mixture for operating an internal combustion engine, or the like. A vaporizing and mixing chamber is justaposed on an intermediate chamber which, in turn, is justaposed on a holding chamber. Ambient air is admitted to the intermediate chamber and fuel at ambient pressure is admitted to the holding chamber. Metering means is provided for metering air flow from the intermediate chamber into the vaporizing and mixing chamber and for metering the flow of liquid from the holding chamber. The fuel flows axially to a jet orifice into the confluence of a plurality of air jet passages directed counter to the flow of fuel to the jet orifice and the resultant mixture of air and liquid fuel is aspirated in a column into the vaporizing and mixing zone. A whirling motion is imparted to the air-liquid fuel mixture in the column so that, when it reaches the vaporizing and mixing column, it flies out by centrifugal force into the vaporizing and mixing chamber. The air jet orifices are directed at an acute, oblique angle, so that the jet orifices are an annular loci at the base of the column and the fuel is jetted up into the center of the loci. A turbulent vortex is thus established at the confluence which promotes disintegration of the fuel into tiny globules and dispersion of these globules into the air.

    摘要: Disclosed herein is a carburetor including a housing having a throat, means for supplying fuel to the throat intermediate its opposite ends, the fuel supplying means including a tube extending into the throat and including a plurality of fuel supply openings spaced along its length. A pivotable throttle member is positioned in the throat intermediate its opposite ends and is pivotable between a fluid flow restricting position and an open position. The pivotable throttle member includes a cam surface. The carburetor is also constructed such that an increased number of the openings supply fuel to the throat as the throttle member pivots from a fluid flow restricting position to an open position and the openings are closed as the throttle member pivots from an open position to a fluid flow restricting position. This is accomplished by a sleeve surrounding the tube and supported for slidable movement on the tube, and a cam follower engaging the cam surface, the cam follower carrying the sleeve whereby the sleeve is slideable on the tube in response to movement of the cam surface with respect to the cam follower.

    摘要: Disclosed is a carburetor which regulates the supply of fuel and air in response to the vacuum pressure conditions in the mixing chamber between a downstream butterfly throttle valve and an upstream butterfly air valve. Liquid fuel is supplied to the mixing chamber through a nozzle with a number of small orifices and its delivery is controlled by a fuel supply valve operated by the air valve shaft. The air valve and fuel supply valve are operated in unison by a vacuum responsive actuator connected to the mixing chamber and adapted to adjust the air flow through the air valve in response to mixing chamber vacuum pressure. A second vacuum responsive actuator connected to the intake manifold is used to enrichen or lean the fuel mixture ratio in response to engine demand by bleeding air into the fuel supply line between the fuel valve and nozzle. The fuel valve has a vertically reciprocal piston which is operated in a vertical bore in the carburetor housing by an eccentric pin on the air valve shaft, and a cam follower with a self adjusting fulcrum. Choking for cold engine starts is achieved by biasing the air valve butterfly or regulating an outside air bleed line by a temperature responsive valve.
