Abstract:
A vehicle body rear part structure includes left and right rear frames extending longitudinally of the vehicle body, a plurality of parallel spaced cylindrical fuel tanks disposed horizontally between the left and right rear frames with the axes of the fuel tanks extending normal to the left and right rear frames and disposed below the center of a height of the rear frames, and a cross member disposed between two adjacent ones of the fuel tanks and extending between the left and right rear frames. The cross member reinforces the rear frames to such an extent that fuel tanks of larger capacity can be carried on the vehicle body rear part structure.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to a mounting assembly for firmly securing a storage tank having a curved bottom wall to a chassis of a vehicle. The mounting assembly includes a pair of longitudinal support structures for securing to the bottom wall of the storage tank, a cross bracket for mounting between the longitudinal support structures, a sub-frame for supporting the longitudinal support structures, and a bracket assembly for securing the cross bracket to the sub-frame.
Abstract:
A mobile storage tank has front and rear walls and a pair of opposing side walls each having ends being in contact with each of the front and rear walls is disclosed. A bottom wall extends from the front wall to the rear wall and abuts the pair of opposing side walls. The bottom wall has a generally flat portion along at least a length portion thereof, and has a curved portion a rest length portion thereof At least the bottom wall is formed having a double ply wall structure in order to prevent leakage of a material contained within the mobile storage tank should an interior wall of the bottom wall become punctured, and further to provide secondary containment.
Abstract:
To provide a meter cover structure capable of enhancing the visibility of a meter, and preventing, even if an object comes in contact with a meter cover, the meter from being damaged by the contact with the object. A meter cover structure includes a meter, and a meter cover disposed over a fuel tank. The meter cover has an opening portion in which the meter is disposed. A chamfer portion having a linear cross-section tilted downwardly toward the front side is formed at an edge portion, on the rear side of the opening portion, of the meter cover. An upper surface portion of the meter is tilted such that a tilting angle of the upper surface portion of the meter with respect to the chamfer portion of the meter cover is different from a tilting angle of the upper surface portion of the meter with respect to an upper surface portion, continuous to the rear end of the chamfer portion, of the meter cover.
Abstract:
A unitary fuel system module comprising one or more fuel cylinders mounted to a frame as a module, preferably through neck-mounts, and having fueling lines for connecting the fuel cylinders to the vehicle. The frame is fitted with a latching mechanism that is readily actuated for alternately securing the frame to the fuel supply envelope in the vehicle or releasing the frame for removal of the fuel module as a unitary structure. Preferably, the frame is fitted with wheels or slides to enable sliding the module in and out of the envelope. In operation, as required return a vehicle to operation, a faulty module can be replaced with a replacement module, which is slid into the envelope where it is secured and the fueling lines are re-connected to the vehicle.
Abstract:
When a fuel tank is supported rotatably, one end side of the fuel tank must be fixed by a lock mechanism. Although the background art engaging structure is simple and convenient, when the lock mechanism cannot be provided due to space limitations, a rotating support structure cannot be employed. An engaging member is provided on the front portion of the fuel tank and is inserted from the rear side to be engaged with a retaining member and to be pulled rearwardly for disengagement. A fuel tank is provided at a rear end thereof with a hinge. A bolt relatively moving in a guide groove formed in a side plate of the hinge is supported on a collar fixed to a seat rail. The hinge is slideable and rotatable.
Abstract:
A fluid tank for use with a vehicle having an axle and a rim supported by the axle. The tank includes a hollow body defining a reservoir for containing fluid. The reservoir at least partially extends about the axle. Preferably, the reservoir projects into a hollow area of the tire rim.
Abstract:
A floor for a tank formed of a superstructure and a skin, wherein the superstructure is formed of a pair of spaced floor rails, one on the left and one on the right side of the tank, and a spaced series of normally disposed thereto V-trough struts or cross-members each of which slopes from the interior sidewall edges of the tank toward the center longitudinal axis, while at the same time their respective effective elevation is decreased from the back to the front of the tank, such that the skin attached over the superstructure slopes both inwardly toward the middle of the tank from each side and forwardly from the rear of the tank toward the front of the tank.
Abstract:
A passenger car includes an engine that is mounted in the front end, from which a drive shaft leads to the rear wheels of the vehicle, and a fuel tank that is mounted between the vehicle seats and that extends in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle, the drive shaft running basically alongside the fuel tank from front to rear. An exhaust system of the engine, which is designed as an internal combustion engine, preferably runs from front to rear on the side of the fuel tank that is opposite the drive shaft. The fuel tank may be configured more narrowly in its top section than in its geodetically lower section and, in particular, have an approximately pear-shaped cross section and be designed to hold liquefied gas, especially liquid hydrogen. Preferably, the drive shaft of the vehicle engine runs in the vehicle longitudinal direction, and a gear reduction manual transmission that is provided between the engine and the drive shaft for the rear wheels is mounted on the side of the engine.
Abstract:
In a fuel tank (1) for a motor vehicle, a cap (4) which closes off an installation opening (3) has a metal insert (11). The metal insert (11) has a pressure-exerting surface (13) which faces toward an edge (9) which laterally delimits the installation opening (3). This construction prevents settling of the material, which in the long term leads to leaks from the fuel tank (1).
