Abstract:
A cement-based tile formed from a mixture comprising: a cement in the range of about 0.1 to 88% by wet weight percent; a secondary material in the range of about 0.1 to 50% by wet weight percent, the secondary material comprising limestone, sand, silica sand, gypsum, silica fume, fumed silica, Plaster of Paris, calcium carbonate, fly ash, slag, rock, or a combination thereof; a reinforcement fiber in the range of about 0.5 to 20% by wet weight percent, the reinforcement fiber comprising cellulose fiber, glass fiber, plastic fiber, polypropylene fiber, polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) fiber, homopolymer acrylic fiber, alkali-resistant fiber, or a combination thereof; a rheology modifying agent in the range of about 0.5 to 10% by wet weight percent; a water in the range of 10 to 60% of a total wet material weight; and wherein the mixture is extruded or molded to form the cement-based tile.

Abstract:
A method for producing a ceramic honeycomb filter having predetermined plugs comprising immersing the end portions of a ceramic honeycomb structure having large numbers of flow paths, with its end surface covered with a mask provided with holes only at positions corresponding to the predetermined flow paths, in a plugging material slurry, so that the plugging material slurry is introduced into the end portions of the predetermined flow paths, and removing plugging material protrusions formed in the flow paths that should not be plugged.
Abstract:
A method for producing a ceramic honeycomb structure comprising the steps of machining end surfaces of an unsintered or sintered ceramic honeycomb structure, and ejecting a gas from a slit-like orifice moving relative to an opposing end surface without contact, thereby removing dust and/or cut pieces from end surface portions.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a process and a device for the production of polyurethane clock foam, in which the reaction mixture, after flowing through a mixer, flows freely from an outflow opening and then flows through an accumulation chamber, in which a static pressure is built up, a gap and finally an expansion chamber.
Abstract:
Provided are, among other things, systems, methods and techniques for manufacturing sheet material. In one representative embodiment, a sheet of fabric material is positioned across a patterning template that has a number of openings; and the sheet of fabric material and the patterning template are fed through an extrusion device in which extrusion material coats the fabric material and forces the fabric material into the openings in the patterning template, thereby producing a composite sheet material.
Abstract:
Method of producing a dental ceramic structure by digitizing a model or partial model of the prosthesis to be produced and generating a CAD data set, cutting each section of the muffle based on the CAD data set to form the cavity, pressing the ceramic into the cavity by way of at least one sprue, removing the hardened ceramic from the cavity with the sprue or flash and removing the sprue or flash based on the CAD data set.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method of producing useful materials from filament-forming α-helical proteins or filaments made of such proteins. The method comprises allowing filament-forming α-helical proteins to self-assemble into α-helix containing filaments and forming fibres, films or bulk materials from the filaments. The materials are stretched to strain the filaments so that the α-helices substantially irreversibly change to β-sheet forms. The filament-forming α-helical proteins can comprise intermediate filament proteins. In a specific embodiment, the filament-forming proteins comprise hagfish slime thread IF proteins.
Abstract:
A green body of a vessel-shaped piece of sanitary ware made by slip casting, such as a washbasin, is demolded by a robot having an arm provided at its free end with a suction pad which is brought into contact with the outer surface of the bottom of the green body to hold it by suction. The green body is, then, rotated or otherwise moved for finishing by a stationary device, while it is held by the robot. The robot enables the automatic demolding and finishing of the green body.
Abstract:
The disclosed invention relates to novel aromatic polyamide compositions with a fullerene component and fibers therefrom which have improved torsional strength and a process for preparing said fibers.
