Abstract: Methods and systems for generating support structures for additively manufactured objects are described herein. In some embodiments, a method includes receiving a digital representation of a dental appliance configured to implement a treatment stage of a treatment plan for a patient's teeth. The method can include generating a support structure arrangement configured to support the dental appliance during an additive manufacturing process. The support structure arrangement can be generated using a machine learning model. The machine learning model can be trained on a training data set including appliance data representing geometries of a plurality of dental appliances, support structure data representing geometries of a plurality of support structure arrangements, and outcome data representing outcomes of the additive manufacturing process for the plurality of dental appliances with the respective support structure arrangements.

Abstract: The invention relates to an arrangement of a furnace and of bulk material of glass particles, said furnace (10) comprising a pressing punch (36), a pressure, distance and/or speed sensor and a control device for controlling a pressing process based on the output signal of the sensor. The sensor detects at least a pressure, position and/or motion parameter of the pressing punch (36). The pressing punch (36) acts on the bulk material of glass particles (32)—possibly via an interposed ram (28)—, said glass particles being guided and crystallizable in a press channel (30). The trigger criterion for the process control is a change of at least a motion parameter of the pressing punch (36) upon softening of the bulk material of glass particles (32) which change is detected by the sensor.

Abstract: Dental restorations are created by preparing a hydrocolloid mold for such dental appliances as crowns and bridges. A slurry of zirconia powder and 3-O-acryloyl-D-glucose is prepared. The slurry is gelcast in the hydrocolloid mold with polymerization of the 3-O-acryloyl-D-glucose to a green body. The green body is dried and machined to the form of the dental restoration. The polymerized 3-O-acryloyl-D-glucose is then burned from the machined green body. The remaining zirconia body in the form of the dental restoration is then sintered to form the finished device.
