Abstract:
A system for polishing an outer surface of a specimen, the system including a motor and a rotatable shaft extending from a first end of the motor, wherein the specimen is removably attachable to the rotatable shaft, a safety cover configured to at least partially surround at least a portion of the rotatable shaft, wherein the safety cover includes a top panel, a first side panel and a second side panel spaced from each other across a width of the safety cover and extending downwardly from the top panel, and at least one aperture extending through at least one of the first and second side panels. The system further includes an abrasive material insertable through the at least one aperture so that the abrasive material is positionable to contact the outer surface of the specimen.
Abstract:
A system and method for grinding the exterior of a shaft part with rotationally symmetrical sections and bases which have centering bores and which define a reference longitudinal axis and rotational axis of the shaft part. The shaft part is held between tips which engage into the centering bores during the grinding process using a grinding disk, and the shaft part is additionally supported on the rotationally symmetrical sections by means of a support device. The current diameter values of the rotationally symmetrical sections are measured and transmitted to a controller, by means of which the support device is updated with respect to the measured diameter values while continuously supporting the rotationally symmetrical sections until target dimensions are achieved.
Abstract:
A liner system for installation in a rotatable mill shell having an inner side and an opposed outer side, the liner system including one or more lifter bars. The lifter bar includes a body, a channel plate secured to the body and defining a channel axis, including one or more lateral extensions extending transversely from the central portion in relation to the channel axis, and one or more insert elements positioned between the lateral extension and the inner side of the mill shell, for resisting outward movement of the lateral extension toward the inner side. The liner system also includes one or more attachment assemblies, each including a bolt, for securing the lifter bar to the mill shell. The insert elements are configured to maintain the bolt in a predetermined position in which an axis of the bolt is aligned with the channel axis.
Abstract:
A size-adjustable online wheel deburring device for removing burs from wheels, including a machine frame, a synchronous clamping and rotating system that enables the wheels to rotate in a clamped state, and a brush adjustment system, the clamping and rotating system and the brush adjustment system being arranged in the machine frame. The brush adjustment system includes a left brush adjustment system including a left brush and a right brush adjustment including a right brush, the left brush adjustment system and the right brush adjustment being arranged in symmetry. The left brush and the right brush are separately adjusted to desired positions through a left gear rack and a right gear rack according to detected diameters of the wheels, the left gear rack being fixed on a side face of the left supporting block and the right gear rack being connected with a right fixing block below the right brush.
Abstract:
A workpiece having a planar face the workpiece is rotated about a workpiece axis substantially perpendicular to the planar workpiece face, and a grinding disk centered on a disk axis is rotated about the disk axis. The disk has an annular planar disk face perpendicular to and centered on the disk axis and an annular frustoconical disk face extending from an edge of the planar disk face, centered on the disk axis, and angled inward from the planar disk face. A portion of the annular face is oriented perpendicular to the workpiece axis and pressed against the planar workpiece face to premachine most of the planar workpiece face. Thereafter the disk is pivoted and oriented parallel the planar workpiece face to finish machine the planar workpiece face with the planar disk face.
Abstract:
A process for machining edge portions of a ceramic article preform without chipping includes grinding in such consecutive machining steps and machining directions that a chipped portion which results in a machined part of the edge portion in a machining step, is removed by any succeeding. Further, a lastly remaining part of the edge portions of the ceramic article preform is machined in a final step without chipping, thereby enabling the edge portion of the ceramic article preform to be ground without chipping.
Abstract:
An apparatus for simultaneously machining three circumferential surfaces of a circular workpiece. The device includes a frame having support for securing the workpiece thereto. A center tube rotatably supported by the frame extends into the interior of the circular workpiece and supports diametrically opposed spindle arms. One spindle arm supports a pair of rotatably grinding wheels disposed to grind parallel horizontal surfaces on the workpiece. The other spindle arm supports a rotatable grinding wheel for machining the interior radial surface of the workpiece. The position of the grinding wheels may be accurately controlled by dovetail slides and handwheels. The grinding wheels are rotated with respect to their spindle arms and the center tube is rotated so as to move the grinding wheels about the circumference of the workpiece to simultaneously machine each of the three surfaces of the workpiece.
Abstract:
A grinding apparatus comprises a base, a chuck on the base for supporting a workpiece for rotation about an axis, a first on the base to one axial side of the chuck for grinding an internal surface of the workpiece in the chuck, a second grinder on the base for grinding an external surface of the workpiece in the chuck, and fasteners for retaining the grinders releasably on the base adjacent the chuck. Thus both axial sides of the workpiece remain exposed for machining both ends of the workpiece simultaneously. The chuck is of the centerless type which engages the workpiece externally on its outer diameter between its ends, thereby leaving these ends free for grinding.
Abstract:
A control for a grinding machine of the type having a grinding wheel mounted at an oblique angle relative to a workpiece, the control including means for receiving first data representative of a contour to be ground on the workpiece defined in a first set of axes in a workpiece coordinate system, means for transforming the first data into a set of second data defined in a second set of axes relative to the grinding wheel and means for generating output signals to cause the grinding wheel to grind a predefined contour on the workpiece in accordance with the second data.
Abstract:
A grinding machine wherein a wheel support carrying a grinding wheel is moved along a straight path extending at an acute angle to an axis of rotation of a workpiece. For the subsequent simultaneous grindings of a cylindrical surface and a shoulder side surface perpendicular thereto of the workpiece, the position of a transverse table carrying the workpiece is adjusted in proportion to a designated finish diameter of the cylindrical surface. The position of a sizing device slidable in the axial direction of the workpiece is also adjusted in connection to the positional adjustment of the transverse table, so that a pair of feelers of the sizing device are engaged with the cylindrical surface at a position which is spaced by a designated distance from the shoulder side surface.
